haha although I think Tiger's performance enhancer was women. Once he gave that up it all went downhill |

Rory is great too. I think Spieth may take over the #1 ranking after the open though. I'm rooting for him to get the grand slam. |

As a Devil man I wanna hate the Rags but they have guys I like, Stepan being one of them. I like the dude because he isn't an a-hole, he plays the game with respect and that's rare coming from the Blue shirts. Although their current roster has some pretty decent folks on the team. I would love Stepan on the Devs but he ain't going nowhere. If he will receive around 7 million per year he needs to be a first line center with first line minutes. Otherwise don't pay him as such.
Ovi is a one trick pony.
Crosby cries.
I think McDavid will encompass the best of both without their negatives. I'm so excited for the Oilers and cant wait to watch them play.
This post was neither here nor there, I know. It's my morning rant. F-off. |

I actually really like the Stalberg addition. If he sucks, we can waive him for only like a 150k cap hit. - rangerdanger94
This was a nice move, I wanted Philly to get him.
I don't know what happened in Nashville, (confidence), but he's a skillful player.

I love that song. I am sure that most of the older Rangers fans do as well.
Hope all is well down under.

Crosby is an amazing talent, of that there is no question, but is he the best?
Ovie has more Harts, won the Caldar and is not on a team with another Hart winner ... |

We actually took that song for our national sport (rugby league), as the years theme song for a few years. Flew Tina out for the grand final - great song. Not sure about the 'older' fans but yes spot on.
All is good (cold) down here. Hope you're enjoying your summer. |

The debate continues as it should, gold medals, Stanley? I'm sure Toews will be mentioned by Hawks fans, & no doubt Eichel V McDavid. I still think 66 was better than the Great One but I'm not in a position to be heard. |

It was the first song used by the Rangers when they won the Stanley Cup in 1994. Basically, the music hit when Messier picked up the Cup, so for that reason I will always view that song fondly.
Very interesting moves by your team this summer. The top end talent on the Pens is just absolutely sick. They are going to provide an interesting case study this year of whether you can win with world class talent at the top of the roster, but some pretty significant depth issues, especially on defense. They will be entertaining this year, no doubt about that, and Crosby could have a huge season with Kessel on his wing.

I think it is generally been a pretty good offseason, understanding that there had to be some cap casualties.
On the downside, I think they could have gotten more for Talbot, and perhaps missed the boat on getting more for him trying to land Yakupov from the Oilers. With that said, it's hard for me to complain too much about getting 3 picks for a backup goaltender, who was scheduled to become a UFA after this season, until they extended him mid-year.
I think the Hagelin trade was a necessary trade given the cap situation. Etem has some upside and will make 1/4 of what Hagelin will make this year, so hopefully he can replace most of that production.
I think the RFA deals were great work by Gorton, and allowed the Rangers to fit most of last year's roster in, without losing too much.
It definitely has not been a sexy offseason, but I think the Rangers took their shot at the deadline last year in acquiring Yandle, so IMO, we really couldn't expect much more than what the team has done. |

You didn't account for Hayes 2.85 million in bonuses on his ELC. This counts against the cap. The NYR's can exceed the cap by this 2.85 but if they did it would then be tacked on to next seasons cap availability as a penalty. |

Yea I mean the dude's not Crosby/Malkin/Toews/Getzlaf/Seguin/etc. but he's a solid 60 points center who can make plays out of nothing, can make plays on the PP, and steps up in the playoffs. On his own, not sure he's enough to carry a team offensively but with a guy like Stepan who can put up similar production, it's a solid 1-2 punch. - rangerdanger94
I mean Weiss was a 60 pt center as well. I truthfully don't know as much about him as I should. |

would you say so far that the cap flexibility is much better from last year, but from a talent standpoint its a drop worse? OR do you feel that the development of guys like etem, kreider, fast, miller, hayes will be enough to take the next step?

Just curious as to your opinions on Yandle. If Nash goes do you try & keep Yandle & sign a bottom 6 guy & push players up the line? If Stepan goes same applies or do you trade Yandle no matter what to try & get a first or good prospect back? Surely if both Nash & Stepan stay Yandle goes - then at what point to you trade him unless you have another presidents cup looking season, & do you blood a prospect (what's that young guy you guys all rave about on D?)? Will there be a Yandle sweep? - Aussiepenguin
Forget about Nash and Stepan moving anywhere, and I would would bet they move Staal, Girardi, or Klein because Yandle is getting resigned. The prior 3 all have skill set's easily found on the open market. They're the aging core that didn't get it done and a retooling has McDonagh, Yandle, Skjei taking the rains. |

The defense pretty much has remained the same. There is definitely a drop off in the backup goaltender position, but don't think it will make a huge difference.
Upfront, as far as core players go, Hagelin and St. Louis are out. In are Etem, Stalberg, and probably Lindberg. It's hard to say there isn't a drop off there, but I'm optimistic that Etem can turn into an effective player for the Rangers.
They will need younger players to collectively replace what they lost in those two guys.
Maybe a minor step back, at least initially. Obviously, other teams around them have gotten better, and it will be a battle in the Division and the Conference, but I think they are right in the competitive mix, and will probably remain there in the near term.
