MDZ, assuming Isaac's number are right is $3.875mm per. That's a fair deal, and still leaves Flyersabout $235k under - Jsaquella
Not that it REALLY matters, but general fanager has us at ~580k cap space. Not sure where Dave got that other number from |

I don't know how he came up with $235K. GF has them with $4.458m in space before MDZ's contract.
$4.458 - $3.875 = $0.583 million. |

I agree.
I'm sure Hextall was concerned the arbitrator would come up with a number starting with 4. - Feanor

So who is getting traded - Winning
I'm gonna go darkhorse candidate and say that Hextall trades Mark Streit.
It probably won't happen, but everyone else is guessing that Luke Schenn is gonna go.
Schenn is, in my mind, far more tradeable than either AMac or Streit, simply because of his contract. |

Gotta think after this year our d corps looks like:
Streit-Provorov
MDZ-Morin
Ghost-MacDonald
Schultz
Then in 17/18:
Provorov-Morin
Ghost-Sanheim
Hagg-MacDonald
Lets get Jake locked up now. |

Not 100% on how 1 way contracts work, but if Manning gets sent down, he has to clear waivers, correct? If so, i dont think they'd risk losing him and trade a dman instead - FLYERSROCK!
One way contract has nothing to do with waivers. Waivers is based on games played and age. Manning has to clear waivers no matte riches on a one or two way deal.
1-way means he gets same money inNHL orAHL. Two way means he gets one salary in NHL & a different salary in AHL |

Thought this was the case. Whats the # of games for future reference to have to pass through waivers? 25? |

"This is all hyperbole"
"AMac is a quality top-4 defender getting paid market value"
"Richards never had a problem."
"This is all taken out of context." - jmatchett383

Too late...
you look at most teams second pairings nowadays... you dont think Ghost and Morin could be as good as guys like Bieksa, Mike Green, Danny DeKeyser, Alec Martinez, etc?
Provorov and Sanheim look like absolute studs so there's no reason to believe they cant be top pairing guys |

LOL, cap hit of 3.875 million, exactly what I predicted a few days ago! Glad Hexy is listening to me. Now go trade AMac and plant some drugs on Vinny pronto! |

http://espn.go.com/nhl/story/_/id/12370826/analytics-give-blackhawks-advantage - PhillySportsGuy
None of that is new information. The interview was strictly about analytics. Just about every team incorporates analytics into their analysis and decsion making to some degree, as they should. Nothing there pointed to the Hawks using them heavily to the point where their success can be widely atributed to the use of analytics. |

Provorov and Sanheim are real special talents. No reason not to get excited. I pay attention to junior as much as anyone on here.
5/6 Dmen are not great nowadays. I'd be shocked if Ghost or Morin were bottom pairing guys. |

Its the going rate these days. AMac for 5 more years at 5 mil per is the one that I can't stomach. |

Yes, he has to clear waivers, but that has more to do with games played than 1-way contracts. All a 1-way contract means is that you get paid your NHL salary whether you play in the NHL or AHL/ECHL. |

It's pretty amusing that a simple question asking how have the Leafs benefitted from the use of analytics, and how has it helped them progress, has now been turned into a comparison between the Hawks success and Toronto's, by one poster in particular.
The reality is that the Hawks success is more widely attributed to the core of Toews, Kane, and Keith more so than the use of analytics. Both teams incorporate analytics into their decsion making. Well what's the difference. I think the clear difference puts analytics into the proper perspective, and how much value it actually has. |

Ghost has to prove that he can defend well enough against bigger, stronger players before he gets top 4 consideration. Morin, OTOH, should be, at worst, a solid 2nd pair shut down guy who plays on the top PK unit.
Provorov and Sanheim should be 2/3 guys at worst and franchise #1's at best |
