Better you then us - SABRES 89
and I'm glad to do it, hes the ultimate wild card. If anyone can get him motivated its Roy. I will give him that, Roy is the ultimate players coach and it seems like everyone loves playing for him.
If he can't get this guy going he is either going to be another Radulov KHL runaway or a new Russian NHL stud. Cant see this kid sticking around the NHL just as another 3rd line plug.

Zads was the key piece, Grigo and Compher were just nice pieces to add for 2 guys in ROR and Mcginn that probably wouldnt be on the Avs in 2016-17 season.
Honestly we can't hate the deal bw our clubs, we both got exactly what we wanted even though the Avs might have taken on more risk with the lesser established commodities, but its the gamble and trade they needed to make - DDM-Coga
Agreed. We just hope ROR continues his climb in the stat column. Was a lot to give up on for the player we got. for potential. lets hope it evens out. |

There will be a lot of "the grass always looks greener on the other side" moments when this team goes through any sort of struggle in the next few years. "What if we kept player x, i can't believe we gave up on player y" type of thing. |

I think it will be an even deal once we all look back at it. Sabres got the best player in the Deal and that is always the early on winner in trades like this.
But I like what the Avs got and the flexibility it did to the team. IT really was a trickle down effect to get Zads.
After getting him, they didn't need to target 2 UFA dmen, they could concentrate on Beauchemin as a short term fix in the Top 4 and be a mentor. Plus it gave Bigras 1 more year to develop. I do not want to see that kid rushed into Top 4 minutes.
If Grigo or Compher make NHL impacts, thats just a plus. But how getting Zads changed the whole dynamic of the D core now and long term, I think it was the painful trade giving up ROR that the Avs needed to make if they wanted to be even serious about a perennial Playoff team |

Grigs and compher could be 2nd liner s at least thats was what we hoped. Still could turn out that way. Gotta give to get . Quantity to get quality. That's what GMTM said he was going for when he was hired.
We had quantity. and very little quality. Nice seeing the change. We aren't used to that. |

Its crazy to think you guys added 3 Top 6 players under 25 in 6months in Eichel, ROR, and Kane. Not too many teams could do that this day and age.
I think the Sabres still have flaws, especially in the Dcore. Bogo and Risto are pillars going forward but really everything after that has questions marks attached to it.
If you get stable goal tending in Lehner and a few young guns take the next step, this team can make some noise really quick. Maybe not next season bc of how many new pieces were added with a new coach, might take some time for it all together. But in 2016-17 season. I would put some money on you guys making playoffs |

Fixed (imo) and agreed with the last bit. Tossed Oleksiak's name out as a potential get for the top 4 now that Dallas pretty much has their D in order.

Thanks . for the positive evaluation. A couple good Dmen would do us some good but we are not in real bad shape going into the next season. Lots of teams are worse off. |

I know Pysyk has had more limited time, but I would add him to that list. He's very quietly going to be a very good defenseman for a long time. Can't wait to see what he can do over a full season here.

to the 3 rebuttals haha I dont know too much about pysyk but I know hes highly regarded.
Just hes green and will be some growing pains with him but he probably will make some impact halfway through the season.
Like I said it will take some time for it all come together now, but I think you have all the pieces to do it. Solid coaching will take it to the next level.
The only real question mark is goaltending. Lerner has skill but is fragile as well. If he turns the corner, this will be a very tough team to play against |

well we blew you guys out the last few times so I look forward to some tighter games
Always had a love to the Sabres. Drury was one of my fav all time Avs (well non HHOF Avs). Once he made it to you guys, I was secretly in love with you boys. |

I didn't like the price tag you gave up for him but (frank) it, after Neimi rights were shipped off, you were screwed to make a goalie trade. the UFA goalie market after Neimi was poopty.
Using that draft pick for another prospect wasn't going to solve this years goaltending woes. I like the oilers Talbot trade a bit more bc it was a pretty reasonable price and won't stink as much if he doesn't work out, but its UFA vs RFA.
It probably was worth the gamble for Lehner |

I really like the my boys roster going into this season. Soderberg, Comeau, Grigo, Zads, Beauchemin in ROR, McGinn, Wilson, Hejda, Briere out.
I do think they are a way more balance team this season, plus they have 8m in cap space vs next to non like last year (handy for EJ, Barrie, Mack extensions in 2016)
They will be a very interesting team to watch this season |

Grigorenko will start off slow but score 20 goals this season. Book it. Once he gets PP time and the top-6 gets injuries he is going to look like Freakorenko. |

I think he gets first unit PP time eventually, there is a glaring need for him on dutches wing since Roy likes to play Tanguay on the point in PPs
Grigo Dutch Iggy
Beauchmin EJ
Landy Soderberg Mack

After months of it sitting in it's box, I've finally setup my 2nd Chromecast, now I'm back to having one in the bedroom. Still months before heavy use (use it mostly for putting NHL Gamecenter on the TV screen), but it's now time to watch True Detective Season 2. |

We went from having a Google TV (Logitech box with a keyboard that we loved, but it broke after years), to a Chromecast, added an Amazon Fire Stick, and then a 2nd Chromecast. Only have 2 TVs, so no need for 4 like you. |

And you had Sakic - all time favorite. I think this made sense for both sides, and I also woulda mentioned Pysyk - plays above his age, does a million small things right. |

Bagosian, Risto, and Pysyk are all RH d-men. Sabres fans see Pysyk as having the potential to be a top 4 d-man, but it'd be a tough assignment for him to jump Bagosian or Ristolinen...
Shouldn't Mark Pysyk become trade bait then?
Hmmm, imagine what kind of LH d-man solution could we net by packaging Pysyk & Foligno in a trade?
Buffalo trades Mark Pysyk and Marcus Foligno to Pitt, for Olli Maata. |

Anyone go on Buffalorange regularly? I haven't been on in forever and I know it went down for a while. I went on a few times last fall but it didn't have the same amount of traffic it use to. Is it still quiet? Or back to being a pretty frequent fan site? - bluengold12
