Bob didn't install anything, Burkie just signed a bunch of guys who play that way. If you think that "hard work ethic" system is going to get them anywhere it wont. Teams will outmatch them and leave Hartley like a fool, he's nothing more then washed up motivational speaker. You need a good soak - GRIT68
I think you must be mistaking Bob for someone else (Torts....lol). When you consider what Bob did in the Swiss league, winning a championship with the Lions and of course a Stanley Cup with the Avs. I guess those teams won because of the GMs picked a bunch of good players and Bob had absolutely nothing to do with it......nice try but you are obviously in love with McDavid and the crappy team he plays for or you're a 'Nucks fan......which is almost as bad. Does anyone here think that Jankowski will turn out to be a good pick after all?
What if he lights it up with the Friars this year?
At 20 years old, he has filled out considerably. With that in mind, combined with his obvious skill, does Jankowski have a shot in the top 9 with the Flames come 2016-17?
I noticed on Today's Slapshot that the Flames blogger has him pegged as a future 4th line center at best. I call shenanigans!! - Misterbator
I think he will be a regular nhler ...hard to say what his peak is but I know Conroy was talking him up pretty big ...he seemed almost shocked at the muscle mass janko put on since the exit meetings
As for the 4th line center ceiling ...maybe that's just with the flames ...money, Bennett, backs ....he ain't beating them out ...at this point it is not a big deal what he becomes ...we have a good core starting to form and it's not as bleak as when janko was drafted

Shenanigans indeed. He's noticeable when Ive watched him at development camp and he looked steady for the Friars. Really good at taking the puck to the net. His skating style is pretty unique.
Big year for him without Jon Gillies.
People have been trashing him on these boards for the last two years and hes STILL ONLY 20 RIGHT NOW.
"OH BUT WE COULD HAVE HAD OLLI MAATTA"
Fvck Olli Maatta. Boone Jenner showed me everything I needed to see about Olli at WJ-U20 and now he's dealing with numerous non-related injuries. If that guy plays more than 300 NHL games I would be surprised.
He obviously gets a pass on the tumor but he's still a glass cannon if you ask me.

Yep, doubtful he surpasses Mony or Bennett, but he could provide a strong 2way, 3rd line game. Obviously if this were to happen it mean moving out Backlund. I love Backs but ultimately that's how you maintain a strong team that constantly challenges for the cup. Bring young, cheap guys, move out older pricier guys. It sounds like Janko's game could be similar to Backlund's. Defensively sound and capable of supporting offensively. He's good on face offs which is needed in that role and he is bigger. Ultimately I could see a center depth of Mony, Bennett, Janko and Arnold. |

One more thing I was thinking ...I'm not entirely approsed to keeping all our centers in the lineup ...whoever is the best face off guy can take draws ...Bennett can play wing or backs or janko ( assuming he is good enough ) ...it never hurts to have extra centers ...also if an injury occurs to a center you still have the depth
Money
Bennett
Backs
Colborne
Stajan
Jooris
Granlund
Arnold
Who else am I missing

Byron, Bouma, Hudler have all played C at some point in their career. Granlund if he sticks. |

I haven't given up on him ... I just wish we could see him in some preseason games without him having to leave school
Also agree that he could be a good replacement for Backs after he prices himself off of our roster (presumably after Bennet/Money/Johnny are all extended). |

If I'm talking JVR to the Flames I'd want Bennett+.
If I'm talking JVR to the Wild I'd want Coyle and one of Ek-Eriksson, Tuch or Greenway. If its the Caps then it is Bowey and one of Wilson, Vrana or Burakovsky.

Ya I saw that....suddenly made me remember why I stay the (frank) out of anything involving the leafs. There are 1 or 2 guys over there that can talk hockey reasonably well, but they get drowned out by about 20 or 30 complete (frank)tards |

They seem to think JVR is going to bring in some magical haul
Maybe some team will get desperate and overpay but I wouldn't give up anything of real value for him |

I suggested something like
Wideman/Russell/2nd
Klimchuk
Tspoon
for JVR and was immediately met with Bennett+, so ya I think they overvalue him a little bit. I think my trade is actually a pretty good deal for the leafs, but apparently I'm on crack |

Yeah I'd say your deal is far too much to give up ...they ought want a young roster player, a prospect and a first but let's get real here
They are about to find out the true worth of JVR and bozak without having Kessel playing with them |

So the flames are offering bouma 1.5 and he wants 2.5
Me thinks this is going to arbitration |

Tough one. I really think he brings a lot to this team and, along with Gio, is one of the poster boy for the teams identity. I would say what he is asking is a steep but by paying him it shows that hard work is rewarded.
Hopefully they can meet somewhere in the middle. |
