Since it's oh so lively in here...what are predictions for Girgensons next contract?
I imagine he'll be foligno-like and get basically a doubling. Foligno went from around 825k to almost 1.9M in his last contract. Will Girgensons follow suit and go from his almost 900k to right around (likely at/slightly above) 2M?
Not a big deal since O'Reilly's bump is "only" 1.5M per and the Sabres have players like McGinn (almost 3M), Legwand (3M) and Foligno himself ending their contracts (plus the legendary Weber's 1.6M+)

any word on Franson?
I thought I heard there were rumors that he was meeting with the Sabres a few days ago...
But I haven't heard anything since - jdfitz77
wasn't a real rumour, some guy on twitter claimed to see him at canalside.
My biggest hope is they wait til the end of the calendar year before inking something. Get another 2 1/2 months worth of play from him and see if they want to commit long term now to avoid the glut of big names that need contracts in 3 years.
If they go long term, I obviously don't think he only gets a Foligno-like raise, but more like a 5/22M or 6/27M type deal (the 5 year more likely)

Personally I'd like to see them get him and Risto signed to something before this season even starts.

8 years 32-36 mil.
Takes him to 30.
Allows him to still have a big payday
Shows the commitment to wanting to keep their guys
Shows to potential UFA's the commitment to winning.

double bogey cost jordan - homiedclown
Maybe, but if he pars or even bogeys 8, who's to say that he still has back to back putts on 9 and 10? Missing the par put on 17 is what cost him. He came unglued on 18 after that.

On that last one, if they're right on Risto/Girgs, having them at 4-4.5 mil cap hits makes it easier for them to overpay for FA's.

I don't know why, but I think Risto would want something a bit higher if he's signing that long term. There's no real reason I think that, it's just a gut feeling I have.

It's possible he asks for a contract like what Myers got after seeing O'Reilly get big money.
I was thinking of Klingberg as a comparable. If Risto has a big year I think he'll get a similar deal.
