a 20 year-old finding his game in the Q is hardly the sign of a can't miss prospect.
Nieto seems offensively un-gifted.
Wingels is a good 3rd liner; but 15/16 goals isn't scoring prowess and he is unlikely to exceed that total.
Mueller is definitely the prize of that offer; and the only interesting piece. - Tumbleweed
I never said it made him a Can't miss prospect.
I said all of these guys are more valuable to the Sharks than to other teams.
And I am against trading for JVR |

After 6 seasons and opportunity to play with great offensive players, Johansson has been OK....still only 24 but I don't think he will ever be much more then he is now.
I like Vrana a lot, just as much as Bowey - I would be happy with either. - Cooshie
Your viewpoint on johansson is very similar to the way non-Toronto fans view JVR. I'm not saying I think johansson is on his level, but included him in a trade with an A level prospect and a 2nd rounder is ridiculous. As far as trading Meier and a 2nd for JVR, I would consider it if Meier wasn't one of our only 2-3 A level prospects. I believe he'll develop into a player that can produce at JVR's level and I'd rather give him an opportunity than trade him right after we draft him. Would be a lot easier to consider if we had a prospect pool like detroits |

Really not sure why we would send JVR anywhere. Friendly cap hit and he is young enough to be part of the rebuild. Only way I can see us shipping him off (and get ready Colorado fans, cause you arent going to like this) is if MacKinnon is coming back the other way.
I can already hear the "that will never happen" upon hitting the submit key - Holy_Makinaw99
that will never happen. You can have Grigorenko and a 2nd though. High upside center under Babs would be good for the rebuild. |

Our summer is pretty short. |

We're into late July, Shanahan & the guys are most likely vacationing in Mexico as we speak. Eklund is trying to make something out of nothing. If mainstream media isn't talking about it then it's nothing more than the National Enquirer. |

Not nearly enough. JVR has more value than Kessel did. |

Now I remember why I stay away from leaf rumours . To the guy saying Bennett+ for JVR. What kind of chemicals are you on?
Realistically we have guys like:
Prospects:
Morgan Klimchuk (1st rounder top 6 potential, pushing for a spot but our fwd depth is pretty good right now)
Tyler Wotherspoon (addition of dougie makes him more expendable, NHL ready)
Emile Poirier (I'd rather keep this kid, think he's going to be good for us)
Pat Seiloff (staff infection hindered his development, potential to become good physical shutdown d)
Josh Jooris (good speed, excellent 2way game, just broke out last season)
Drew Shore (a lot like Jooris, more size to his game, Centre depth was preventing him from sticking full time)
Markus Granlund (2 way game, offensive upside, again Centre depth keeping him back)
Vets:
Kris Russell (Mid aged dman who will help you guys now)
Dennis Wideman (vet dman who you could flip at the deadline, or use to insulate youth)
We could also throw in guys like Raymond, Jones, Bollig and Byron. Or a heart and soul guy like Bouma (if we have trouble extending him).
Of course I believe we also have all of our picks for 2016 that we could throw in as needed.
A package of something like
Wideman
Klimchuk
Granlund
for
JVR
is something that I wouldn't be upset about. Could take some tinkering, maybe russell instead of wideman, or picks instead of vets. But that's a deal that I actually believe is pretty close to fair value for both sides. Wideman could definitely be sold high at the deadline if he plays top minutes (which he would). - Saskabush
For the next 10 years your 1st line would be, wait for it....
JvR-Monahan-Johnny
Bennett and Klimchuck or 2016 1st considering you are instantly contenders for years to come.
Thanks for coming out though |

Exactly, you believe/hope he will develop into JVR....well, why not trade for what you hope he becomes. You know the odds are he won't.
Johansson has never scored nearly to what JVR is doing....not even a close comparison.

Yeah, no chance Leafs would get McK for JVR. |

Standard roster player, a pick and prospect is the return I'm expecting for JVR.
I don't know, but maybe JVR for Backlund, Granlund and a 2nd?
Maybe throw-in Bozak for Jones to make more of a hockey trade. - Tumbleweed
Reasonable.
I'd rather hold onto Backlund for now, he's one of our best possession players. I'd be more willing to throw guys like Shore and Jooris in.
Shore, Granlund, 2nd and perhaps another roster player (MayRay, Byron, Bollig) or another pick (maybe our 1st and 2nd for your 2nd?).
To the guys shutting down any trades with vets coming back. Do you really wanna follow the Buffalo/Edmonton suck till we're good rebuild plan? There's no guarantee that you land a generational talent, hell it took the Oilers 4 try's to get one.
Or would your rather follow the Flames model? Clear house, collect picks/prospects and add as much affordable/attainable veteran help as possible. This creates competition and prevents you from putting all the pressure on your young guys right from the start. Wideman is a great vet to have around the young guys, but with him and hamilton both being right handed shots he will most likely see his minutes decline with us. Keeping guys like Wideman, Hudler, and Gio around sped the rebuild up, rather than slow us down. |

Exactly, he is a stud. Why would we trade him?. Ek get a life with your fake rumours. Just because Philly got shafted in that trade years ago, don't come up with fake rumours. - isitin
why would you keep him? the leafs are sh*t, he should be the one asking to be traded |

Jvr to Devils?
I'd do JvR and Connor Brown for Santini, Palmieri and either 2016 1st or Merrill (preferred 2016 1st) - optimus-reim
Why are you commenting?. You are no Leaf fan with a trade like that. |

the Leafs got nothing for Kessel and will be the same for anyone else on that roster not named Bernier. JB is Toronto's best asset - everyone else on that team is average and will net an average return. |
