attitudes can be broken - he just didn't have the proper coach and it snowballed and got out of control. If Toronto would have got a guy like Babcock in 3 years ago, things would be so much different. - Mr.Black
Oh my (frank), so you're actually saying that all the poop Leafs fans have had to put up with, with regards to the trolling of Phil Kessel, was all in jest? That he's actually a decent player?
After being brainwashed by trolls I'd come to the conclusion that Phil is and always will be useless and now this?
It's like the last episode of lost when he found out he was dead. Mind blown.

Yeah the Sabres are hurting and it's going to be like that for a long time. That team has been gutted and good luck to the fans, it's going to be a long haul. - Mr.Black
Jack Eichel
Sam Reinhart
Rasmus Ristolainen
Ryan O'Reilly
Evander Kane

Not if you listen to some of the Sabre fans. They think the playoffs are close and the Stanley Cup a reality in a couple of years. I'm a realist, Leafs make playoffs in 2017-18. Win cup in 2022-23.

That's because you have very little to build around yet.
Sabres have been acquiring those peices for three years now
All I ever read, while Phil was on the Leafs, is how poop he was, how bad he was in the dressing room and how his contract was immovable. - walshyleafsfan
Got 1st and 3rd round picks in next years draft , Spaling could turn into a 3rd-4th round pick at the trade deadline, an A- prospect in Kapanen and B prospect in Harrington while having to pay only 1.2M over the next 7 years (8.4M total paid out) and didn't bring back a bad contract. If he was traded before signing the extension (thanks Nonis) I'm sure the return would have been much juicier.
After A) the poor year he just had, and B) that massive contract extension, his value went spiralling down.
I'm happy he's gone and now the quick fix rebuild Burke/Nonis attempted is in the rear view mirror and the future of hockey universe is tended by a quality management group Shanahan, Dubas, Hunter and whoever else, if anyone else.
JvR has some real value right now with a VERY economical contract.
I'd say let him play with Kadri on the 1st line and see who calls around the TD, if there's an idiot willing to sell the farm for him, which I'm sure there is, then pull the trigger.
This falls right in line with what Dubas has been saying - it's a business. Sell your assets when they're at their highest of value and continue quality drafting/development to replace that commodity.

aside from the islanders, this past season, most rebuild on the fly attempts seem to fail
Jack Eichel-Hasnt played a game in the NHL yet
Sam Reinhart-Hasnt played a game in the NHL yet
Rasmus Ristolainen-wonderful +/- LOLOLOL
Ryan O'Reilly-selfish player, thats why Colorado dumped him
Evander Kane-do I really have to explain this head case?.

those were some painful years man!! Isles weren't a "on the fly attempt" at all. They toughed out some long hard years while piling picks and developing talent. The Isles have an absolute plethora of young talent in their system, probably one of the best pools in the business. Now we sit back and watch it come together. Last year was a stepping stone, a leap, this season we take the next step... A PLAYOFF ROUND WIN... hahaha. If they fail this year I'm jumping over the (frank)ing falls.

but it was different with kadri a few years ago with his hype
got it - homiedclown
don't kid yourself, Kadri leaves TO he's gonna light it up. Another player just pissed on by the media and public of Toronto. I'd welcome him on the Island with open arms.

Kane just needs to grow up. If he doesn't grow up and continues being a child then the Jets will most definitely have made a joke of Mr Murray. Or maybe you can trade more of the future for a 2nd line center and then give him 7.5M per year. Hopefully Lehner can carry your offensive team too because in Ottawa they have a quality defense and he still couldn't carry anything.
Real life Sabres fans are just like Sens fans;
Exist when they're playing good, making blockbuster trades etc, live under a rock until then.
Ristolainen will be a bust, maybe 2nd pairing like Meszaros. Myers, like Chara, will shine in his late 20's.
If there's one thing Murray has shown it is that he doesn't have the patience to go through a full rebuild but does have the ability to sell the farm for 2nd line centers and drama filled wingers.
EDIT: This is to the Sabre kool aid fans, not you. Just annoyed by the fact that Sabre fans seem to believe that the trades they have made are "smart". Sorry to include you.

I don't see Lehner being able to handle the load on his own. The Sabres should have held onto Neuvirth. Good on Philly picking him up - the guy has potential for greatness.

their attendance is always high even though they stink, and tv ratings are always high
season ticket at an all time high for years, esp with leaf fans buying a few tickets off of stub hub at stupid prices and paying for half of their season tickets with a couple of games being sacrificed
your way out of line thinking sabre fans disappeared for the last few years
