I love the Islanders by the way. Thought the Clutterbuck for Nieds trade was brilliant.
Tavares, Strome and now Barzal. Garth Snow is making a name for himself. - optimus-reim

My home is here in Ontario now....I grew up in NB....Just fishing there twice a year. |

1. 1st line winger
2. Considered a powerforward due to size
3. With a real #1 center (which is anywhere but Toronto right now) he would see 30 goals+ every year
4. 24 years old
5. 4.1M cap hit for a 1st line winger who can pot 30 goals and is locked up for another three years?
Come on man he could easily bring back some nice pieces. - optimus-reim
I assure you, Bennett and likely non of of the pieces you wished for, would be coming back in a trade for JVR. Also, pretty sure JVR is 26 and a cap hit of $4.25 per. for 3 more years. Still good, but he's not bringing in a top prospect like Bennett, Flames would walk away. |

Brb crying in my pillow.
I'm excited for the dose of adrenaline Buffalo got, truly.
I just think they could have done better if they waited instead of trading Myers, Grigorenko, Armia, Lemieux, Zadorov, Compher and all those 1st/2nd round picks included to get O'Reilly a.k.a Mike Richargs 2.0, Lehner who is so young he could still be a bust and of course Kane who has loads of talent but the mind of a 11 year old boy trying to be a man but to emotionally young to get respect.
Those players and picks could have been kept for a couple more years, been used CORRECTLY in drafting, developing and then TRADING for proven commodities.
Murray looks smart now but Kane could be a 2nd line winger, ROR IS a 2nd line C and Lehner could be like 85% of all goalies - bust.
That's like selling the farm for a farm that is 3 years older and the same amount of potential. Patience Mr Murray, one step after the last will get you to where you're going, playing hop-skotch while fun and entertaining can always have faults such as falling on your face. |

If I'm talking JVR to the Flames I'd want Bennett+.
If I'm talking JVR to the Wild I'd want Coyle and one of Ek-Eriksson, Tuch or Greenway. If its the Caps then it is Bowey and one of Wilson, Vrana or Burakovsky. - optimus-reim

Yeah, I kind of agree with you. But who knows how prospects will turn out.
True, they traded A LOT of prospects for supposedly ready NHL players.
It is a gamble, and I do respect that, lol
Your back on the box seat Sabre v Leaf game list. Although nbboy, weirdo, burn will be tough to beat out. Hell, I might even like to meet jbold. HAHA.

the best you can come up with for Risto is "lol +/-" on a team designed to tank. Actually quite the compliment to him |

Kane just needs to grow up. If he doesn't grow up and continues being a child then the Jets will most definitely have made a joke of Mr Murray. Or maybe you can trade more of the future for a 2nd line center and then give him 7.5M per year. Hopefully Lehner can carry your offensive team too because in Ottawa they have a quality defense and he still couldn't carry anything.
Real life Sabres fans are just like Sens fans;
Exist when they're playing good, making blockbuster trades etc, live under a rock until then.
Ristolainen will be a bust, maybe 2nd pairing like Meszaros. Myers, like Chara, will shine in his late 20's.
If there's one thing Murray has shown it is that he doesn't have the patience to go through a full rebuild but does have the ability to sell the farm for 2nd line centers and drama filled wingers.
EDIT: This is to the Sabre kool aid fans, not you. Just annoyed by the fact that Sabre fans seem to believe that the trades they have made are "smart". Sorry to include you. - optimus-reim

If the Rangers trade Nash for Marleau after 42 years of being a fan I will no longer be a fan!!! This is pure stupidity at its best!!!! I thought GM new had to do GENERAL MATH????? Stupid Stupid Stupid!!!! If your going to trade Nash at least trade him for JVR not Marleau!!!! Get some youth and not a 35 year old player on his way down!!! WTF??????? |

Eichel is the best kid to come out of college since Kariya, bank on that.
Why in the (frank)ing world would you give ROR 7.5M while Eichel will be your #1C after 2 years? Reinhart could be your #2C but instead you trade the farm for a 2nd line C?
Murray, in my mind, is an idiot for the Lehner trade hands down. ROR makes NO sense whatsoever in Buffalo. Kane is the most logical trade sending Lemieux and Armia - both of which are lower graded prospects, but Myers still could turn into a 1st pairing defenseman and that alone kills the trade. 1st pairing defenseman have so much more value over potential 1st line wingers.
Best of luck truly, I'd love a Toronto-Buffalo in 5-7 years, but I think Murray invested at the wrong time. |

PATIENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's a gamble for sure but I think if he waited even one more year he would have made some better decisions regarding Buffalo's prospects and the players he chose to trade for. Eichel and Reinhart 1/2, done. If Kane lives up to 30G seasons on the 1st line then where does ROR go? Can't play 1st line and you're going to pay someone who makes 500K less then PHIL (frank)ING KESSEL to play on the 2nd line?
I can't wrap my head around it.
The Lehner trade enrages me too. Oh well, cheers to a bitter rivalry my good sir. |

O'Reilly will probably move to the wing(where he was at his statistical best) as soon as Eichel takes the #1 spot. Lehner trade? No argument there, it's a guy he drafted and one he really likes, was bound to happen.
Myers won't be a top pairing guy, showed as much in the playoffs. He'll be good just like he was for buf, but it was worth it to ensure getting a guy like kane (since apparently they wouldn't move him without myers being part of the deal), And despite his poor +/- (seriously is that even worth mentioning) Ristolainen was very good down the stretch. Long way to go but lot's of promise and great play from a guy as young as him. |

Risto is young and could stay the course as a top-4 defenseman, maybe even 1st pairing. Rielly, like Risto, was the best part of tanking as he single handedly improved and got more confident. Those are the kind of players you want for sure man.
PS. I think Myers needs to stop doing to much and go back to basic defending.
He has 1st pairing potential and for his size, is relatively young. All the best to him. |

Myers is better than Ristolainen, until proven otherwise.
Myers was fine for WPG in the playoffs. He and Trouba were good, Byfuglien was bad and ANA actually matched the Perry line against him on purpose |
