Myers is better than Ristolainen, until proven otherwise.
Myers was fine for WPG in the playoffs. He and Trouba were good, Byfuglien was bad and ANA actually matched the Perry line against him on purpose - sbroads24
I loved the pairing of Trouba and Myers. Could be their future 1st pairing if Byf gets traded. Trouba was a STEAL for the Peg.
I've always liked Bogosians game, has he improved since being traded to Buffalo? |

Myers was paired with Enstrom. They lead the team in even strength ice time. They also were only on the ice for one goal against until the 3rd period of game 4 when Anaheim ran away with it. |

Hmmm, maybe I'm thinking of earlier in the season? I thought I saw them play together a couple times and did quite well.
Enstrom is quietly becoming a very valuable asset for the Jets.
Love what Chevy and Co. have done with the Jets.
Outside of Vancouver all the Canadian teams are making big steps to be competitive for a long time.
There was a time in the playoffs where I thought I was going to turn to a Flames fan and burn the Blue, however Shanahan, Dubas and Hunter have given me lots of hope for the franchise. Hunter is a true hockey guy he played it and knows what to look for in terms of talent, hockey sense and all that good Ontaria (respect to Cherry) soul poop. Plus, the London Knights have produced a poop ton of NHL elite talent.
I've watched a load of video and listened to a lot of interviews with Dubas and the guy is truly respectable. 28 years old and seems to have wisdom beyond his years.
Everybody that interviews him hates him because statistical analytic's are just being introduced and he's one of the leaders in the area.
Continuously gets made fun of or work gets degraded and he just rises above it, agrees with some portion oof what they said, and continues to gently explain what he does, essentially.
Shanahan is a hard nosed guy in a different mold. He's a true leader behind the scenes and what I would call the foundation of the management crew - not due to his actual position but rather by action.
Walks the walk and talks the talk is how you would explain him.
Anyway, my love for hockey and the Leafs has been sparked up again like when Mats Sundin was the Captain.
I truly believe that in the next couple of years Toronto, Montreal, Edmonton, Ottawa and Calgary fans accross Canada will unite in the hatred of the (frank)ing twats from Vancouver. A-(frank)ing-MEN
I remember meeting a Nucks fan and he was the YOLO-I'msocoolthatihashtagwhatidobecausemylifeissorealz. Once I got my pitcher of beer I went back to my table drank back two pints, the buzz kicked in and my body still craved the need to absolutely derail this guy.

Agreed just meant that the trajectory is promising but just like the rest of the team he's got a lot to prove. But I disagree on the playoffs bit, he was mediocre at best and just a disaster in his own end in that game 3 OT |

It's comical to read a Sabre fan smack talking Leafs fans for trade proposals dealing with JVR. Curious....when's the last time the Sabres had a player as good as JVR...youth, vision, hands, great contract for 3 more year, just coming off a 30 goal season??? if your answer is Drew Stafford...guess again..he was older when traded on the last year of a contract and I'm pretty sure he fetched a 1st round pick....remind me how JVR wouldnt fetch at least a 1st rounder and a prospect coming back. JVR was the 2nd over all pick in the NHL draft for a reason....Stafford...not so much.
and Oh, you just traded away how many former 1st rounders and futrue for a guy who drove into a Tim Horton's drunk? then drove away......lol
p.s you also traded away even more for another cancer in Kane....what a gong show you guys are going to have.
Now go get your shine box! |

Risto is young and could stay the course as a top-4 defenseman, maybe even 1st pairing. Rielly, like Risto, was the best part of tanking as he single handedly improved and got more confident. Those are the kind of players you want for sure man.
PS. I think Myers needs to stop doing to much and go back to basic defending.
He has 1st pairing potential and for his size, is relatively young. All the best to him. - optimus-reim
Agreed, he found his offensive game again but you almost expect that when you move from bottom dweller to playoff team. |

He had a bad shift in the OT but he scored a goal in that game and was their best D man for a good portion of it. I think some Sabre fans are being a little too optimistic that Myers will just fade unto mediocrity like he did for 3 years when we sucked. He's most likely going to be a 40-50 point player and play top pairing minutes

Cam barker was drafted 3rd overall. When the hawks dealt him for leddy did you say "oh wow i can't believe they gave up a top 3 pick for Leddy" ? |

Not saying that. Just that i didn't see what you'd want out of a top pairing guy. He will get the points no doubt about. Great offensive talent finally on a competent team after all these years, but points aren't the whole story.
FWIW i'd take him over bogosian any day |

uuummmm you gave up a lot more than Cam Barker. And secondly, Leddy never drove drunk into a Tim Horton's...lol.....then drove away only a few days after posting to the world picks of his new truck!! what a Moron.... |

A lot more than a former 3rd overall pick? you said it yourself, look at where the players were drafted.
And who's to say that Tims didn't have it coming? |

For the next 10 years your 1st line would be, wait for it....
JvR-Monahan-Johnny
Bennett and Klimchuck or 2016 1st considering you are instantly contenders for years to come.
Thanks for coming out though - optimus-reim
You Are F'n dreamin'! Bennett alone is worth more than JVR. he's as sure a thing as prospects come. And you think we add a Klimchuk or a 1st. Give me a break. |

Why do I constantly read that JVR is "young" and "part of the shanaplan" when Kessel was "old" and "not part of the future".
JVR is not 24, he is 26. http://www.hockeydb.com/i...s/pdisplay.php?pid=105417
Kessel is 27: http://www.hockeydb.com/i...ts/pdisplay.php?pid=93039
1 year 7 months is the line drawn on too old and the future?
If you get the right package for JVR, you move him. He will be in his 30s when this team is ready to compete, and no longer on that sweet, sweet contract. - McSully
the bruins will take him! you can have ericsson, seidenberg, talbot, rinaldo, kevin miller and chris kelly. sweet deal!!! don't rebuttle just say yes.... before I wake up |

You are very correct.......time to stop looking at JVR as a young piece. He's in his prime.....the team is not. You have to move him if the price is right.

How many years will it take before the leafs are actually ready to compete? they have been horrible for quite some time, no? |
|
|

The Jets already have 8 D on one way deals, unless this meansd they have another deal agreed to why would they add another bottom pairing guy from Philly? |

Not for what is being discussed on here though!
If the price is right - hell yeah. If it's a lowball offer, no point....
Meier and a 2nd round pick - yes.
A bunch of B grade prospects - no. |

So you wouldnt trade the Sabres roster for the Leafs roster straight up? |
