So you wouldnt trade the Sabres roster for the Leafs roster straight up? - ImThatGuy
Ahh...the always popular "we wouldn't trade our roster for yours" debate. I'm going to make popcorn. |

Can someone please tell my why in God`s name the Flames would trade Bennett + for JVR. Come on people, let`s get realistic here. |

I think the better debate is whether or not a salary cap compliant playoff roster can be found by combining the two teams rosters. |

You Are F'n dreamin'! Bennett alone is worth more than JVR. he's as sure a thing as prospects come. And you think we add a Klimchuk or a 1st. Give me a break. - TandA4Flames
Bennet is not worth JVR get real he hasnt even played a full season yet........give your head a shake! |

By your standards Mcdavid isn't worth JVR either. Good contract or not how do you expect to get a better haul than you got for Kessel (who is in a whole class above JVR)?
Do the leafs have to trade JVR? No
Does it make perfect sense to listen to offers and stock the cupboards with players who will be hitting their prime when the Leafs are (potentially) done rebuilding? Of course it does.
The leafs should be looking at bringing in as much youth and picks as they can while simultaneously filling the roster with attainable/affordable vets that can play the tougher minutes and allow your kids to develop. If not, then enjoy your Oileresque rebuild, see you in the playoffs in 2025 |

Bennett has done nothing that's why they call him a prospect........i guess Philly should have traded JVR for Malkin when he was drafted by your rationale. And c'mon McDavid isn't even a prospect he's a sure thing, you can't honestly say the say about Bennett. - casevo17
McDavid hasn't played a game yet. Bennett played 2 rounds of playoff hockey, and was at times our best forward on the ice. He's as close to a sure thing as they come. (playoffs is that time of year when teams play for this thing called the stanley cup, the games are generally considered to be much more competitive FYI)
And If pittsburgh was stupid enough to offer me a 20 year old Evgeni (frank)ing generational talent Malkin for JVR (who was considered to be an excellent power forward prospect at the time) you're god damn right I'd jump all over that deal and never look back....that proposal just goes to show who I'm talking to though |

Of course u would take malkin don't think u got my point.....proven talent is almost always more of an asset than a prospect is what I'm saying, but thanks for agreeing with me it's called sarcasm bud.......so I guess u proved my point, just goes to show who I'm talking to |

Oh the rumors. JVR to Caps? I doubt the Caps want to cut Kuznetsov's time on the second unit by adding another winger to the mix. They've been trying to develop him for a while, and he wouldn't fit on a third line checking role. |

I understood what you were trying to do but the example you used was completely (frank)ing ridiculous. Find a comparable to JVR and come up with a potential trade don't throw Malkin into the conversation and go on thinking it proves your point you dunce.
Proven talent has to be pretty god damned good to get a top 5 pick one year after his draft year. I know JVR is the best forward you guys have by a long shot, but he is not good enough to pry out can't miss propsects.
Trading JVR for Bennett would be more like trading a guy like Drew Stafford for JVR right after the Flyers drafted him, what 2nd overall? I'm willing to bet Flyers fans would tell you to go (frank) yourself if you came up with that proposal 6 years ago, 31 goal season or not. |

As a Wild fan, I don't see many people talking about this... What about the likes of Pominville and say Spurgeon for JVR? |
