why do leaf fans think they can get a pot of gold for Drew Stafford, I mean JVR

Jvr to Devils?
I'd do JvR and Connor Brown for Santini, Palmieri and either 2016 1st or Merrill (preferred 2016 1st) - optimus-reim
Terrible return for JVR and Brown. |

Ok well the leafs scored 211 goals to njs 181 so how many points does that knock of jvrs production? He would be a fourty point player in nj and we have no number one centre either.
You might get a first and a top prospect for him but it would be from the Devils. It just doesn't make sense and wouldn't help us. Our offense will likely be even worse this year so we should have a 6th or lower pick again plus Larson who played top pair and put up like twenty points in his final forty games while still getting next to no pp time. Everyone outside of the Devils might think we just want to give him away but he is still very much considered a future cornerstone for us. It just makes zero sense for two rebuilding teams to make a trade like that. - blizzzard
if they want that kind of return, better off looking to the hawks and taking a bad contract back, bickell or crawford

If we are both looking to upgrade our offense in this trade then I don't know how it can ever happen. We scored the second fewest goals in the NHL only to the Sabres who tried to lose all season. Jvrs to me is someone who needs someone else and we don't need to pay the type of price it would cost to get that true piece to make jvr the complimentary piece. There just isn't enough offensively minded players in jersey make trading for jvr worth it. He would likely only drop in production there is no phone kessel or anyone close to that caliber on jersey he would be the go to guy and I don't think he is that good of a player and you guys will want a seguin type return for a player who is most likely a complimentary piece on a good team. |

I am not saying Devils should trade for JVR, I am just responding to your downplaying JVR's production by him playing on a high scoring team....which is silly because he does not!! he is a 30 goal player no matter where he plays.
When you have ignorant fans who compare JVR to Stafford, you realize how clueless people are on here. |

he scored 30 goals once
31 or more goals, never
if he is going to score 30 on a regular basis moving forward, he is young enough for your rebuild IMO |

If I'm talking JVR to the Flames I'd want Bennett+.
If I'm talking JVR to the Wild I'd want Coyle and one of Ek-Eriksson, Tuch or Greenway. If its the Caps then it is Bowey and one of Wilson, Vrana or Burakovsky. - optimus-reim
Bowey and one of Wilson, Vrana, and Bura?

I don't suppose we could just delete Caps, Flames, Wild, and Jets from these rumors and just make Flyers trade Luke back to Leafs for JVR, could we? LOL |

Being a guy who was on pace for 30goals then scoring 30 then scoring 27 in 3 consecutive seasons is in my books, pretty much a 30 goal scorer.
And yes, he is young enough to be part of the rebuild. I am not an advocate for trading JVR but if a team wants to pay the right price, I am down. |

Yes Van Riemsdyk is a young talented power forward with a very friendly cap hit and shanahan may include him in the rebuild, but that doesn't mean you turn away when teams call. There's more than one team bidding right now, Dubas Hunter and Shanahan may drive up the price and make one team overpay for his services.
I could see the Devils shipping Larsson / 2016 1st rd + for JVR + - ThomasBreen91
Yes the Devils should absolutely trade a 22 year old, 6'3", RHS defenseman who showed great improvement this year, plus what is sure to be a lottery pick for JVR. Where do they sign up? |

We didn't have a single player hit 50 points or a single 30 goal season I don't think he gets 25 on the Devils. He is a player with more tools then skill he is a wingman and not a centrepiece. We could honestly draft a centrepiece type player where we will be picking next year to go with zacha this year so I would rather just try to draft a better player then jvr while we have the opportunity to pick that though instead of gutting what we have. We aren't like the leafs or the Bruins or the sharks or most of the teams rebuilding. We have no pieces of worth to sell off for additional picks, it will be very hard for us to acquire another first in this draft yet the leafs will likely have at least 2 Boston already has two. We can not afford to trade a first unless we are getting a top ten player like we did with Schneider. We would need a guy who would come in and carry the team jvr in my mind just could not carry this team offensively.
Also think about this for a team that has done as poorly as We have either not had a first round pick or had to pick 29 and 30th. The only thing we need to do is quietly add one piece at a time and draft really well because there is little room for error. |

Mueller and either Goldobin or 2016 1st + 2nd - optimus-reim
Sharks traded their 2016 1st for jones and I'm trying to avoid trading Meier, goldobin, and Roy. Wingels would need to be included for cap relief and he is a good leader in the locker room. Or we would have to trade him in a separate deal. I'd go as high as mueller, nieto, wingels, jevpalovs and I think that's pretty generous |

I completely agree with you that Devil's trading for JVR makes no sense. Keep your prospects and your draft picks because no single player at the price of a Larson an 1st is going to help the Devil's become a contending hockey team.
JVR is the type of hockey player that any NHL GM would covet, young, power forward, 30 goal scorer who has a very cheap controlled contract for 3 more years. That doesn't mean every GM should be doing whatever it takes to trade for him - it has to be the right circumstance for a GM to give up the assets it would take. |
