I always got jumped on by Leaf fans for saying they were crazy to think they would get as much as they thought with Kessel's contract. When the trade happened and some went nuts, I thought it was a solid return for Kessel. Never going to keep all fans happy - just the realistic ones! LOL

JVR has more trade value then Kessel.

I have a leaf jersey in my closet, and was at the dome when carter hit the hr to win the series

I just called out a ridiculous over-pay and compared jvr to a 31 goal scorer

I noticed there was no response when I suggested they trade him to the hawks for a bad contract and picks/prospects


A team competing for the cup is the team that will want jvr, not another team competing for a lottery pick next season

Makes no sense for the Leafs to make that trade unless they get a significant future piece.....JVR already is a pretty significant piece that is still young and cheap....so for an offer like that, they are better off keeping him.

I disagee.....yes, he is young enough, but in 4 years, he'll be making top dollar and will be at the tail end of his 20's. Now is the absolute best time to move this guy. 3 more cap friendly years, a good goal scorer, with net presence in the paint. If we were competing, sure....keep him, but the amazing assets coming back is worth the move.......and for the Sabres fan who was asking about seeing the Leafs win the Cup....yeah, it was grand. It was even better that they made the Habs take the Cup out of the Quebec Trophy case, at Expo'67, and take it to the Ontario pavilion and place it there. The Sabres tied the Rangers 4 - 4 in their first ever exhibition game, in Peterborough, Ontario. Goalies where Giacomin for the Rangers, Crozier for the Sabres.......

The Jets have 10 defensemen signed... Highly unlikely they make a deal for more D. Right now I think Nashville, NJ, and Arizona are most likely landing spots for a trade with Philly.

You might not have read my posts. I have said if the trade price was right, i would do it. The trade prices that some fans are offering, no, I would rather keep JVR.
If the Leafs could get Meier + SJ first pick, I would take it and run. Or Larson and Devils 1st, I would run.....but that's not what is being offered here and I would reject what is being offered.
I agree that it's best to turn your assets into future picks and prospects in a rebuild, but the price has to be right. JVR has more value then what is being suggested here.

Yes he does. He has better skills behind the mic and also doesn't rock the boat. He will be a valuable asset, if they decide to move him. Should they? Absolutely!

Nolan was over his head as an NHL coach and if Lehner provides average goaltening, I fully expect them to compete for the 8th spot int he east this season

Sabres hockey has sucked since briere and drury walked and regier should have taken the 4 first rd picks from the oilers for vanek

Ok well the leafs scored 211 goals to njs 181 so how many points does that knock of jvrs production? He would be a fourty point player in nj and we have no number one centre either.

You might get a first and a top prospect for him but it would be from the Devils. It just doesn't make sense and wouldn't help us. Our offense will likely be even worse this year so we should have a 6th or lower pick again plus Larson who played top pair and put up like twenty points in his final forty games while still getting next to no pp time. Everyone outside of the Devils might think we just want to give him away but he is still very much considered a future cornerstone for us. It just makes zero sense for two rebuilding teams to make a trade like that.

as Homie pointed out . JVR hasen't lived up to the hype same as we endured with Stafford. JVR should get you more than we got for Staff. Why pay him 1st line money when there is better to be had.
