Jvr does not have the skill set at all to go to a worse offensive team then The leafs and improve. I can't fathom how you can think jvr would come in and out up more points ? What makes you think that ? It's not his hockey I.q that makes him could he does create much for others and we don't really have anyone good enough for him to bang in 30 from in close he would absolutely be terrible on our current roster and we would be expected to pony up so much that it would just open up another hole. The leafs are and have been a fair more offensive style team then nj. I just can't see scenerio where jvr comes to the Devils and improves. Hell if Lou believed in rebuilding we would of sold off a lot sooner and more then we did and likely would of finished pretty similar to Toronto maybe worse.

Yea we will also have probably close three players who haven't played a full NHL season as regulars and the increasing decline in Elias and others there is almost no way the offense will be better the players aren't there and the system will only do so much to adjust that. Plus it's a new coach and new system a lot of players are going to need time to adjust.

We are in the same boat. 9 new players as of now . Might be 10. Run and gun makes for an exciting team. Just need to have the D to help defend if it goes south. We don't have that yet.

Realistically we have guys like:

Prospects:

Morgan Klimchuk (1st rounder top 6 potential, pushing for a spot but our fwd depth is pretty good right now)
Tyler Wotherspoon (addition of dougie makes him more expendable, NHL ready)
Emile Poirier (I'd rather keep this kid, think he's going to be good for us)
Pat Seiloff (staff infection hindered his development, potential to become good physical shutdown d)
Josh Jooris (good speed, excellent 2way game, just broke out last season)
Drew Shore (a lot like Jooris, more size to his game, Centre depth was preventing him from sticking full time)
Markus Granlund (2 way game, offensive upside, again Centre depth keeping him back)

Vets:

Kris Russell (Mid aged dman who will help you guys now)
Dennis Wideman (vet dman who you could flip at the deadline, or use to insulate youth)

We could also throw in guys like Raymond, Jones, Bollig and Byron. Or a heart and soul guy like Bouma (if we have trouble extending him).

Of course I believe we also have all of our picks for 2016 that we could throw in as needed.

is something that I wouldn't be upset about. Could take some tinkering, maybe russell instead of wideman, or picks instead of vets. But that's a deal that I actually believe is pretty close to fair value for both sides. Wideman could definitely be sold high at the deadline if he plays top minutes (which he would).
