Pretty sure he has no trade value...I'm thinking a buyout the best option..

Oh? Do tell.

I'd take a 20 year old LHD with tremendous upside over a 26 year old LW who hasn't topped 61 points and looks to be a perennial 50 point player.

All day. But that's just me.

Now I remember why I stay away from leaf rumours . To the guy saying Bennett+ for JVR. What kind of chemicals are you on?

Realistically we have guys like:

Prospects:

Morgan Klimchuk (1st rounder top 6 potential, pushing for a spot but our fwd depth is pretty good right now)
Tyler Wotherspoon (addition of dougie makes him more expendable, NHL ready)
Emile Poirier (I'd rather keep this kid, think he's going to be good for us)
Pat Seiloff (staff infection hindered his development, potential to become good physical shutdown d)
Josh Jooris (good speed, excellent 2way game, just broke out last season)
Drew Shore (a lot like Jooris, more size to his game, Centre depth was preventing him from sticking full time)
Markus Granlund (2 way game, offensive upside, again Centre depth keeping him back)

Vets:

Kris Russell (Mid aged dman who will help you guys now)
Dennis Wideman (vet dman who you could flip at the deadline, or use to insulate youth)

We could also throw in guys like Raymond, Jones, Bollig and Byron. Or a heart and soul guy like Bouma (if we have trouble extending him).

Of course I believe we also have all of our picks for 2016 that we could throw in as needed.

A package of something like

Wideman
Klimchuk
Granlund

for

JVR

is something that I wouldn't be upset about. Could take some tinkering, maybe russell instead of wideman, or picks instead of vets. But that's a deal that I actually believe is pretty close to fair value for both sides. Wideman could definitely be sold high at the deadline if he plays top minutes (which he would).

I agree that Bennett + is not going to happen....neither will your offer.
Wideman is a nothing for the Leafs - a rebuild team that does not have any use for him. JVR is not going to be traded for a B and C prospect...just won't happen.
Leafs will keep JVR before making a trade like that.

If Calgary offers their first plus prospect(s) - that might work.

JVR for Ericsson, Glendenning, Andersson and Cleary.
Bab's favorite players should be re-united with the coach.

Good grief!

No way I give that much.

- j0e Th0rnton

That's the highest I was willing to go but I think it would be worth it to get a top line forward with that cap hit. And mueller and nieto are expendable now with our depth. Wingels is included to free up cap space and I threw in another good prospect for them in jevpalovs. What would you give up? If I'm DW there's no way I trade Roy, Meier or goldobin but any other prospect is a possibility.

First off, LHD have less value then RHD.....
Second, upside is just that....he was never drafted as an elite prospect.

Is he a nice piece to have in your system, of course. Is he any sure d man to play even in your top 4, hell no.

You keep your player with upside, we'll keep our proven 30 goal per year (while never playing with a proper NHL #1 or even # 2 center), 26yr old power forward under a bargain contract for 3 more years.

Don't be surprised if Danny already called Babs for a contract.
Holland already told him he isn't making the Wings.

Standard roster player, a pick and prospect is the return I'm expecting for JVR.

I don't know, but maybe JVR for Backlund, Granlund and a 2nd?

Maybe throw-in Bozak for Jones to make more of a hockey trade.

Stu Barnes scored 30 goals once too.

JVR is NOT a proven 30 goal scorer until he puts those numbers up consistently.

Sorry, but 27 goals isn't 30 goals. And he only topped 20 once before that. Twice if you pro-rate the lockout year.

I love the "never played with a #1 or #2 Center argument", too. Off the top of my head, Vanek and Kessel come to mind and they have multiple 30-goal seasons and never had a #1 center.

I don't think people are undervaluing JVR so much as TO fans are overvaluing him. He isn't a game changer and will never be that "final piece" needed for a Cup team. Otherwise Rick Nash would have been for NYR and JVR is no Rick Nash.

And to top it off, Toronto is clearly trying to liquidate their Roster and do the whole re-build or at least re-tool thing and every other team knows this. To expect anything more than a 1st and a prospect is ludicrous.

What did you guys get for Fat Kessel again? Yeah.

not yet...kicks in next year; but good point.

Leafs should definitely trade him now while they are free to trade to any team.

Nitpicking here, but Claude Giroux is a #1 center who JVR has briefly played with.

To me, he's a better player and on a better contract than Oshie.

So the return should be better than a Brouwer (20 goal roster player), a b-goalie prospect and a 3rd.

Don't care about a roster player.....rather take a higher end prospect or pick as part of the other piece(s) rather then the roster player.
