I don't think that "sympathy" is the right word. He wasn't some kid whose dog just died that everyone felt sorry for. He was a well-respected player around the league who had paid his dues and given all that he could to the game, and I'm sure that was recognized by the team, and they knew that, since the "core" had already won one, he deserved to be the first one to get it due to all of the circumstances. - jmatchett383
Probably not the right word.
But agree with how you said it. If this was maybe the first time they all won would he have gotten it right after Towes? |

I think that probably Kane and Keith would be 1/2 after Toews, then Crawford and maybe Seabrook, and then Kimmo. |

I think that was a large part of it. It wasn't just that he hadn't won before. Everyone knew that it was his last game, and they understood that him even lacing them up last year was an accomplishment in itself. So yes, part of it was respect shown to a guy who hadn't won before, but it may have been different if he wasn't on the way out (i.e. if it was Streit instead). - jmatchett383
He also came in, worked his ass off and didn't rock the boat. He could have ripped Coach Q when he got benched for Kyle Cumiskey, but he didn't. He was a pro and got rewarded. If the Flyers win and Lecavalier is dressed, I'd hope that Giroux would hand it to him first as well.

He shouldn't. Lecavalier already won a Cup. I feel that the vets who have never won one (Streit, for example) should always get the Cup before the guys who have won before. |

Nah, hand it to Streit first, Vinny already has a ring.
But yeah, when it came to Kimmo and the Hawks, it was all about respect.

I have voted for the 10% exemption rule. Any player that you drafted who has never left your organization has their cap hit reduced by 10%. That way, you get rewarded (cap-wise) for keeping home-grown talent. It would give teams like the Flyers and Rangers incentive to keep their own home-grown players so that they're not "poaching" UFAs. - jmatchett383
i like this, too. there needs to be some flexibility here. |

Congrats dude, that's awesome.
And yeah, like PSG said, get ready for "Do you feel different now?" on a consistent basis. |

I keep getting the whole, "practice saying 'yes dear' a lot" spiel, but honestly I think I'm the one who inspires more eye rolling, not the other way around |

Amazing what has become of him. I've never seen an athlete that was so dominant completely turn to mush the way Woods has. |
