But Toronto wouldn't do that.

Its no good no matter what you do but I also have 0 interest in Lupul. I know Gardiner's contract is a nightmare. But to say he isn't worth anything isn't fair. I was trying to humour the kid. Substituting Laughton and Manning for Coots is an obvious win for Philly but overall...

I wouldn't do either trade.
Shoot, I wouldn't trade B Schenn for Kadri straight up, at best it is a wash and at worst we get softer.

That trade even with Laughton isn't an obvious win, in any manner. Not sure why so many are downgrading Laughton as a prospect.

No interest in giving up real assets for Gardiner. Not interested in B. Schenn + Laughton for Kadri, even with the Vinny cap dump.

You basically took the other deal, substituted Laughton and Manning for Couturier and removed Lupul from Toronto's end. I'm not sure if I like that more or less.

Listen, I know +- isnt the greatest stat in the world, but a -24 has to speak volumes... especially for a d-man.

Well its pretty obvious that he will never be productive offensively. the kid will be lucky to make it off of the 4th line in the future... if he even has one.

I didn't say he had no value, just that I wouldn't give up "real assets" for him. By that, I mean no B-grade or better prospects, top-9/core forwards, and no picks in the first 3 rounds. If they want to trade him for Vinny, Mathers, and a 5th, I'm all for it.

Couturier + Schenn brothers + Lecavalier

for

Lupul, Kadri and Gardiner

Just because you got a 30 goal scoring power forward for a 6th dman, doesn't mean you can pull off another heist. Holmgren is scrubbing the poopters at the WFC now. There is a new sheriff in town!!!

I put him in the trade proposal because the TOR poster needed something other then Coots and the organization has three good young centers not named Laughton. This was prior to seeing Gardiner's contract which is horrendous. I think he will be a fine third line center someday. I am actually pretty high on him though I don't think he is in the line up next year unless some trades are made. Too many dead corpses with their anchoring cap hits to jump.

GM/goalie coach..... Not sure that is in the cards Vej. Had a good thing going with Reese. Hopefully Kim Dillabaugh continues Mason on his upward trajectory.

I was teasing... A lot of people on here kinda got real down on him because he didnt light it up on the stat sheet while he had his chance here. I think he is gonna be a very good 3rd line center who can play 2nd PP unit/PK duties. I like that.. kinda like a Colin Wilson type of player..

I personally think Laughton's high upside is 2nd line center potential. I think he has the potential to be a 50 point 2 way center. If not, and his point totals wind up lower and he's just a strong 3rd line center, that's great also. I think Laughton is frequently shortchanged as a prospect.
