Schenn. 1 year left on the deal. case closed. - BiggE
This is the clear answer of a man who stays sober only by drinking large quantities of scotch.
Also, I agree. |

Great point.
Even with all the ninja poop Hexy pulled off this summer, they still only barely had enough $ to keep the players they wanted to keep. Probably will be the same for the next couple of summers until some of these albatrii can get shed.
If they remain patient, they could end up w/ a ton of cap space when the window begins to open and they're finally in a position to buy.

I don't even mind the Amac deal that much. He's overpaid by $2M, but he's still a serviceable player. Guys like Umberger and VL kill the team by taking up $9M and contributing nothing. I feel like they've held back players like Schenn, Couts and Laughton as well.
If they still suck next year, the team just needs to keep them off the ice. Send Umberger to LHV and bench VL. The last thing I want to see is them given 3 months to try and work through their problems again |

But we'd risk losing Umberger to waivers. |

Are NHL contracts voidable if a player fails is physical?
I know players usually take a physical before the season starts. What would happen if Umberger can't pass his physical? Can his contract be voided?
Just curious. |

Only if he failed because of a skiing or cliff diving injury or something. If he was physically unfit to play due to injuries sustained playing hockey he'd just go on LTIR. |

I wouldn't say there was a final determination.
I just think for what he signed he hasn't brought the value. Everyone will agree that if he plays up to his contract then no one will have a problem moving forward.
And no I am not asking him to be an all-star. but he needs to be a better two way player then he has. - J35Bacher
The problem is that playing up to his contract, is subjective. For some, that will never be obtained by the player. For some, analysis of MacDonald as a player is offered as a fait accompli. |

You can void them though, if the player is found to be smuggling large quantities of heroin in their hockey bag.
Hey, just sayin.....
"Yo, Vinny...do me a favor man and just hold this bag... yeah, that's it. Now go pet that nice police dog over there"

That's what I figured.
Just didn't know for sure.
Just trying to find our own Mike Richards type of situation. Guess we have to give Umberger and Vinny some pills to try and take across the border. |

Do you have a ski mask, a crowbar, a black wet suit, some leather gloves, and Umberger's home address? |

Talking about Andrew MacDonald is like discussing politics or religion. There is no winner. We all lose. |

I hope and pray that friendship is not the deciding factor in the on-and-off ice decisions for the Flyers management. - jmatchett383
wasn't what I meant in the friend sense. they know each other well and Holmgren knew he was stepping down with hexstall taking over. I would think he wouldn't want to give him that contract if he was really against it. just my opinion. |

I'm back, what did I miss.
No wait, lemme guess, someone has been endlessly defending his man crush, AMac because we all have the nerve to state that he is overpaid for what he brings to the team.
We are bad people, very bad people. - BiggE
You obviously have a problem with someone who has a different opinion on MacDonald as a player than you do. If someone repeatedly talks negative about a player, would the opposite of a man crush apply? Such as having a hatred of the player? Secondly, would you have a problem with my opinion offered in the repeated convsersations on MacDonald as a player, if I shard the same opinion. Or is offering an opinion on MacDonald only okay, if the opinion is in line with your opinion on the player? |

For me it is he needs to be better two way number 3-5 type of defenseman. I think Niklas Hjalmarsson would be a kind of comparison. Just more points because I know he doesn't play against the top lines like Hjalmarsson does.
Sorry if I couldn't explain it better. |

Yeah, that was my main reason for hating the VL thing the minute it happened... quality ice time is so precious, and it should be going to the kids.
Hope Hakstol won't be afraid to put VL where he deserves to be on the depth chart. |
