Well, since BiggE is pushing his wares.
My band plays every Friday 5-8 at Tom and Jerry's on Macdade Blvd in Ridley Township....just off 476 exit 1.
The talent in this blob is tremendous

I'm determined to get up there one of these days and check you guys out

With all the musicians on this board there is a great opportunity for some good discussions in person at a gig hoisting your adult beverage of choice

He made it well known that he intended to buy them and move them, which pissed off Bettman (the owners). So they created some crazy relocation fee while he was negotiating. Basically, he tried to bully his way to ownership with money and the NHL was against it. I think he realizes that you cannot make that team successful. There will never be a die-hard fan base in some areas. That's why a whopping 200 people showed up at the "Save the Thrashers" rally. - jmatchett383
The other thing is, Balsillie wanted to move a team to Hamilton, which is right in the middle of the Leafs-Sabres area, and could potentially hurt those teams. That was a big part of the relocation fees.
If a new owner wanted to move Floraida to KC, or Arizona to Oklahoma City, might not see a militant relocation fee being discussed. Also Balsillie was kind of a jackass about things, he wanted to do what he wanted regardless of what the NHL wanted |

Wasn't some of it because they also hated Basillie too? He kind of tried to buy the Coyotes some back door way. Funny thing is that if a guy like that wanted to really own a team you know he would have really cared for that team and made it successful - J35Bacher
He had a failed attempt to move the Penguins when Mario stepped in. That ruffled some feathers. Talking Jerry Moyes into taking the team into bankruptsy to try to backdoor a sale was the final straw.
I always felt bad for Moyes. The NHL really put it in a horrible situation where he was bleeding money and they gave him no way out. All he got was more loans/debt and a promise that the NHL would sell the team quickly which they couldn't.
Balsillie briefly came sniffing around the Preds when they were for sale but by then he had burned his bridges. Considering the continuing disaster in AZ they should have allowed him to buy the team. They just didn't want him moving to Hamilton under any circumstances. |

So I'm at work listening to Emperor's "In the Nightside Eclipse" and realized that black/death metal is just silly. Just furious double bass with fast guitars and a guy screaming like he's got angry laryngitis. I know some people dig it, and I listen to punk/hardcore so I may not have much room to talk, but, aside from band names/song titles, I find very little appeal in black metal and death metal. |

He can become a UFA next month. His best bet may be an AHL contract if no one is interested in an NHL deal. - bmeltzer
do you think he will sign a ahl contract with the flyers?
have you heard of any teams interested in him at all? |

Was never my cup of tea either.
To each their own though. That's the beauty of music. |

Any musical list omitting the Mighty Zep should be used to line a parakeets cage.

A lot of 90s NYHC and 00s Boston-influenced HC. H2O, Madball, American Nightmare, Bane, Count Me Out, Carry On. Last band I saw was No Warning when they played a reunion in April. As far as punk goes, the first 3 Rancid albums, Op Ivy, a lot of West-Coast stuff. |

I was gonna see them last year, didn't end up going, long story short, my two buddys were (frank)ed up, wandering the parking lot looking for the car, they ran into josh homme after an hour of walking around, he drove them around the parking lot to look for their car, in his muscle car and they smoked a joint with him. OF COURSE that's the concert I pass on.... |

If I'm gonna be honest, Robert plant's voice irritates me. The music is great, Robert plant's voice though....

I view them kinda like the Beatles. Some really good songs, very progressive for their time, and a whole lot of filler. |

I tried really hard to like super diper heavy niche genre metal bands in high school. It never panned out. |
