Until McDonlads and BK and every other fast food joint replaces more than half of their work force with touch screen machines and now those people have $0 an hour to pay bills instead of $9.....
Also. LOL WUT? That is not true at all.
Also - Also - DO you think "Corporate douchebag CEO" got there by trying to take the easy way out or worked at McDonalds, or do you think possibly "That douche" busted his arse through school and while working for a miniscule wage.
there is a lot wrong with your post, but this is not the place, nor the time to discuss it. - ImThatGuy
And this is the key issue, here. You have to be incredibly naive to think that the people up top are too stupid figure out a way to counter this and screw over the folks these people are trying to help. The strategy is terrible. Instead of telling people to pay their employees $15/hour, you need to figure out a way to make these people actually worth $15/hour. I do fall on the side of the fence that everyone deserves a living wage, but there has to be a better way to accomplish that than legislating an unsustainable minimum wage.

This is why i hate the off-season. I come on here to get away from society, because it sucks.
I worked in a fast food joint for 2 years when i was 17, it was never hard. I mean sure dealing with people sucks but that's what working fast food taught me....dealing with people sucks.
Yes Corporate big shots making millions of dollars to sink a company sucks you want to change that? quit buying their products/services. But raising the wages of the unskilled workforce will not hurt them. The great thing about making money is once you start cutting into profit margins you start finding ways to get it back by either cutting hours or cutting the workforce. And if this is instituted in rural areas it would kill em.
Minimum wage should be raised... but not just specifically for the fast food industry and then you work on raising wages all the way up because we are all underpaid. |

People pay to get wet, Sonny.
Also, I agree that Girgens might be our best bait in a trade for a 1LHD, but if I were GMTM I would wait for about a month into next season, or maybe even until the TDL, to be sure that the team is as squared away at center as we think it is.
You know, Reinhart might bust - ROR might really be a wing, not a center, etc. |

My issue with them raising the minimum wage is that the cost of everything goes up to offset the fact that the employers have to pay the employees more. That means that I'm now paying more for everything than I was before, but my wage didn't increase along with it. So essentially I'm making less money than I was before. If I got the $6.25 wage increase that the rest of them are getting, I would just shut up and deal with it, but I'm not and therein lies the issue. The people who have worked their asses off so they don't have to work somewhere like McDonald's are getting screwed. |

Absolutely.... usually why wages get raised by .50-1.00. We're talking about a huge increase and for at least a short time the quick answer will be to raise prices... then you'll see hours cut, positions cut and replaced with kiosks and such. |

The minimum wage is non-governmental taxation. If the government decides they want to ensure that people to live at a certain standard of living, they should just tax people and provide the standard of living through government (as they do now with welfare, disability and social security). The minimum wage is just a way to get the same results by forcing the employer to provide the standard of living, so purchasers of the product blame the employer for the high prices instead of blaming the government for high taxes.
And with that I will stop participating in this discussion. |

NYS spends 700 Million dollars a year on welfare paid out to fast food employees who don't make enough money to pay their bills and need SS assistence.
Almost all of these fast food employees are given only minimum-wage, part-time, rotating shift work.
The 15 dollar minimum wage applies to McDonalds employees in NEW YORK CITY and possibly CHICAGO only at this point.
15 dollars an hour isn't even enough to live off of in NYC and Chicago, especially when it is part-time work.
McDonalds is a MULTI-BILLION dollar corporation. It can certainly afford it.
What the (frank) does it matter to you how much a McDonalds employee makes? It is a high-stress, high-traffic customer service job. You want to work at a McDonalds?
I just (frank)ing love how people like you female dog about poor people making 15 bucks an hour but have nothing to say about corporate douche-bag CEOs making 2,000++ bucks an hour.
If the majority of the workers weren't black would you run your mouth still?
Sit the (frank) down. - DynamicThreads
Super high stress job where said 15 dollar employee doesn't know how to make change. The computer/register spits it out. |

Agreed.
So onto this notion of trading Girgensons for a defenseman. I don't think it's a good idea. I don't think you get the top end Dman you really need by trading Girgensons. We all really like him, but I don't think his value around the league is high enough to get you the type of player we would need right now. He's still a work in progress. Besides, I don't think Murray has any plans whatsoever to move him.

i wish there was this magical place where you could go.. work hard, make something of yourself and work up the ladder.. maybe it could be a country that provides opportunity to those willing to grab it and go. maybe this same country could also take from the rich and give to those that are willing to just skate by on as little as possible so that they can at least have a home.

alright.. one more thing.. look at a chart of government mandated minimum wage increases compared to the inflation rate.. you might notice a trend but i think you already know that |

This is why you have to make it a package deal including LionEater, after the Bust proves that he can really play in the National League. |

To me, it's even more ridiculous to make the trade if you have to include more assets. I already don't want to give up Girgs, let alone more with him to get 1 player back.
It has more to do with the player he's developing into. I know his current value isn't going to get me a piece that we really need right now. I just think he's more valuable to keep at this point than to move.
The locker room already gravitates toward him. The club has said he's a key piece in the rebuild. It just doesn't make sense to me on a number of levels to move him. |

I think Zemgus is an outstanding, hardworking 25G25A 3C who will be a great example of leadership, all in a single individual.
But I think we have - or can easily find - other 3Cs, or guys who are outstanding and hardworking, or who can score 25G25A, or who can be a great example of leadership. Maybe not in a single individual, but certainly in combination.
On the other hand, we don't have anybody, and it is extraordinarily hard to find, a 1LHD.
So viewing the players strictly as commodities and skillsets, its easier to replace Zemgus than it is to acquire the 1LHD.
That's why I would consider the deal. (NB. CONSIDER the deal, not PULL THE TRIGGER "DONE"). |

he's had a lot of injuries though
I brought it up because IMO he is the only one they can afford to move to fill the hole right now given his value and the upside of eichel and reinhart |

If I were GMTM orArizona I'd be intrigued by the idea but want to wait. For the 'yotes OEL maybe the Keith to my Toews aka Auston Matthews. For the Sabres the deadline and potential UFA D could provide a cheaper option, asset wise, and maybe even someone at or on asOEL

His value isn't going to get you the guy you want though. Not right now. So you're essentially giving up a TON to get 1 player back.
Thanks, but no thanks.
As far as injuries go, he had a concussion in the A and a broken ankle in the NHL. I wouldn't exactly say he's had a lot of injuries. |

there is a big hole when zads was moved for ror
how is that hole going to be filled?
