If it goes to arbitration...
Holtby will get the 8mil
That Caps are just stupid with that 5.1 number
BC there's virtually no chance the arbitrator will side with them, thy out themselves in a horrible negotiating spot.
Holtby has all the leverage
They should just give him a long term deal of 6+ per year...
Unless thy wanna give him 8mil per for 2 yrs in a row,
And then he's a UFA
I'd trade for him in a heartbeat if they make him available
And it prob wouldn't cost TOO much bc how many other teams would be in the market for a goalie right now?

Never happen. Murray burned a first rounder on Lehner - he's not backing off that bet this quickly.

It's not like baseball where the arbitrator has to pick one number or the other. He'll likely get awarded something in the middle.

Probably not
But if the Caps would take Lehner + back...
And Murray liked Holtby over Lehner...
Then a deal could happen
Esp is we don't have to give up too much if we're the only team bidding on him
I grew though that Murray goes with Lehner in net. He seems to think extremely highly of him.
Still a BIG question mark for me though
I am hopeful he can become the "#1" Murray thinks he can be

Really?
I thought it was or some reason
Then he'll prob get a # like 6.5, in which case both sides shoul just make a long term deal now
He's becoming one of the leagues best
Locking him up for 8yrs would be a great idea for the Caps

I brought up the MLB "Franchise Four" thing they did last week, and I notice from the Isles new (2nd) blogger that the NY Post writer Larry Brooks has written a piece on all NHL teams' Franchise Four (the Isles blog post is cool btw, it's a "Franchise Fraud Four" - worth a read for the concept).
Without looking at what Larry Brooks wrote (2 are obvious, a 3rd pretty obvious too), who are your four? Perhaps even break it up into 2 separate groups - put that line around the early 90s, using the Aud as a cutoff point (a few years prior, since the Aud closed in 96) - stashu
Love the idea...

I feel like Pysyk is a lot like him. Very similar skill set IMO. - HonkFortheGoose
all the better reason to have him now.. good mentor. i get what you are saying and in 3 years this may be true. i am more talking today to help these little guys
The Bills have pretty much been irrelevant since 1997 and short of 3 seasons from 2005 - 2009 the sabres have been since 2001 - IndianaSabresFan
The Bills became irrelevant in 2001, but that's not worth spitting hairs over. And the nothingness the Sabres have been for 3 years Is really insane. Can't wait for meaningful sports again.
