I laugh at the posts I see on Facebook with the Bernie Sanders love. It's fine to like what he's saying (for those who do), but to think he has a shot at winning the nomination is funny to me. - stashu
So you're suggesting, its OK for others to "like what he is saying" as if its up for opinion or its not a factual explanation of how our captilist greed has caused our great country to its knees.
The reason people are excited by Bernie Sanders, is because the "people" are approaching a breaking point, it doesn't happen over night as the 1% has us on the tread mill focusing on getting every penny we can to stay abvoe water. That is not what made our country great. When the MIDDLE CLASS is strong, the 1% do VERY WELL as you need consumers with $ in order to make profit. If we continue on this downward spiral we are currently living in an "Oligarchy" Where Big money buys politicians, writes legislation, and protects those that are harming our environment while at the same time destroying the very heart of our country. |

Well if they threaten layoffs then lets take away the quarter of a trillion we give them in tax subsidies...this country was built on the middle class...right now the middle class is getting franked in the arse by the top... all awhile the top while doing it is whispering in their ear ssshhhhhh its the poor doing it...and the middle class believing it...."the greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didnt exist" keyser soze - lung3r
I think you need to consider that the "top" may be getting tax breaks (not subsidies) yet they still pay a huge percentage of taxes collected from individuals...like the top 5% of income producers pay 50% (or some high percentage) of those taxes from individuals.
Also consider that 40%+/- of the US population doesn't pay taxes and are a drain on those who do pay taxes...which includes the Rich and the Middle Class.
So yes, I would say that the Middle Class is getting F'd ... but would focus the blame elsewhere.
Our Great Society has produced a class of abusers in which they are rewarded for a culture that expects handouts...let's be clear ... THAT DOES NOT MEAN that I think all Lower Class or the poor of this country are abusers.
It really drives me nuts to hear those who abuse claim it is Ok because it is the Government
Yea, ok...the Government in that sense is me pal.

No problem with this debate getting started, but man...you REALLY need to calm down sometimes...you come charging in and basically call someone a racist snob.
Your points are all valid, but chill out when getting into things - stashu
Sure, I hear you.
But if people in general weren't so one-sided on the subject, I wouldn't be so up in arms about it.
This is nothing but a victory for the working class, in my opinion. And apparently, it isn't just NYC but will be at first with the rest of the state to follow.
First of all, I make between 8.50 and 10.50 an hour working in warehouses and factories and I have no problem with a fast-food employee making 15.00 an hour. My work is much harder, that being said.
But I have never heard of a fast food employee who works 40 hours a week. They average less than or around 20.
And as for people complaining that it is going to raise the cost of living and they aren't getting the same minimum wage, be patient. This will work for the greater good and drive up wages in all industries.
Seattle has already started toward raising minimum wage to $15.00 an hour, a CEO out there took a 6 figure pay cut to raise his workers' wages to something like $70,000 a year and other states are moving toward a higher minimum wage.
Most of these companies now forced to pay their employees more are going to react by cutting hours, reducing managers and doing everything in their power to off-set the new wages anyway, so I don't understand how anyone can be up in arms about this.
My struggle is your struggle and if anyone has an issue with fast-food workers making 15 an hour, then I say to you:
Go work at a McDonalds if it bothers you so much.
Or better yet, learn how to organize like they did and demand a higher standard of living.
And as for some CEO "earning" his place and salary, get real. That's the same damn American dream that our government keeps pushing to brainwash the public.
Americans need to develop a class-consciousness, big time. Unless you have money, you aren't getting money and the system is set up in a way to make sure it doesn't happen.
As for suggesting someone is a racist snob, it is but a comment on our society and it's brainwashed mentality. But it needs to be said.
Anyway, people choose to blind themselves with ignorance and instead of acknowledging the struggle, choose to resent their neighbor over petty cash on the hour. We sell our time for money, that is our system.
This country is in for a rough couple of decades ahead starting now unless this mentality changes. We're already (frank)ed because of climate change, the refusal to stop the use of fossil fuels and a consumer whore lifestyle.
Wake up, America.
FOCKER OUT.

P.S. Mitt Romney had to work at McDonalds to try and pay for his community college degree before he hit Wall Street and made his millions, oh wait, I forgot, he was born into $$ , So the Mitt's of the world can hide income in the Caymen Islands but thats ok, he worked for that ! |

Omg. If 16 year olds can do your job (fast food) you are not worth 15 dollars an hour. Most fast food workers are not worth minimum wage. I would say 1 of 3 fast food orders I get are incorrect. 15 dollars is laughable.
For those that think "everyone's" wages will increase are wrong too. So you really think everyone else's salaries will double?? Hahaha. If so then that leaves fast food workers in the same place. Everyone else's salary will be higher and prices will go up. Simple economics. More money chasing the same goods = higher prices. American dollars will just be worth less.
Worst part is these fools don't realize one of two scenarios.
1. Machines take their jobs. Look at any Walmart or grocery store with automatic checkouts.
2. Educated workers will forgo their jobs and just work fast food since they will make more money flipping burgers than being nurses, factory workers, firefighters etc.... Pushing out the incompetent workers that do fast food now.
And yes I worked several fast food jobs between 16-19. It was the easiest job I ever did. High stress??? Hahaha.
End of rant. Our country is fiscally doomed |

Bold 1&2: contradiction, or at the very least a lateral move.
Bold 3: You coming in here earlier and making a statement about people maybe being upset because of the race of fast food workers speaks volumes about yourself. You cant speak to the mentality change if you are hammering the wedge in further. Make it about wages, not race. Plenty of white people work fast food jobs, i used to be one.
Ignorance IS bliss, and its everywhere. A video i seen of a handful of clearly ignorant black guys that robbed a confederate flag out of the back of a pickup, throwing poop and vandalizing this mans truck while screaming black power. These people dont even know what they are mad about, aside from the media continually drumming up a division between race. (not for or against the confederate flag, just an example of ignorance) |
