Kid can go to college and build up debt, or go work at 16 at McDonals for 15 bucks an hour. And people say the generation is lazy now. Just wait. - ImThatGuy
No incentive to go to college. yet those people who are college material will just push today's fast food workers out of a job, where this brilliant idea to double their wages is supposed to help.
No it doesn't effect only 2% of the population. If effects EVERYONES wages since the other 97% of the middle class will now have their buying power and relative salary reduced.

Omg. If 16 year olds can do your job (fast food) you are not worth 15 dollars an hour. Most fast food workers are not worth minimum wage. I would say 1 of 3 fast food orders I get are incorrect. 15 dollars is laughable.
For those that think "everyone's" wages will increase are wrong too. So you really think everyone else's salaries will double?? Hahaha. If so then that leaves fast food workers in the same place. Everyone else's salary will be higher and prices will go up. Simple economics. More money chasing the same goods = higher prices. American dollars will just be worth less.
Worst part is these fools don't realize one of two scenarios.
1. Machines take their jobs. Look at any Walmart or grocery store with automatic checkouts.
2. Educated workers will forgo their jobs and just work fast food since they will make more money flipping burgers than being nurses, factory workers, firefighters etc.... Pushing out the incompetent workers that do fast food now.
And yes I worked several fast food jobs between 16-19. It was the easiest job I ever did. High stress??? Hahaha.
End of rant. Our country is fiscally doomed - Fattony1187
Most 16 yr olds nowadays don't know how to wipe their ass let alone be able to put in a 40 hr work week. Parenting is the issue and something that is getting overlooked through this whole thing. McDonald's, BK, Arby's, Wendy's, ect are not jobs meant to raise a family. There are a few jobs there that can afford one to be able to do it but you are going to be a salaried employee and work 45+ hrs a week. These fast food jobs in these chain burger joints are meant for high school and college kids. These adult workers don't want to use the skills learned while doing these jobs as kids to network themselves out of it. Many great sales reps come from these type of back rounds and no degree is needed.
Work hard and you will be rewarded. From 1997-2012 (18-33)I worked no less than 70 hrs a week working 2 jobs. You wanna make more money..... It's called get off your lazy ass and go work for it.

it effects union laborers jobs since their wages are tied directly to the minimum wage.. i wonder who one of the biggest donors to the politicians pushing this wage increase are?

I get that it's well-regarded...I just couldn't get past the beginning with all the toilet stuff or whatever was going on. Been a long time since I've seen it, and my memory is crap anyways, but it's not my bag.
I also don't like Pulp Fiction or Big Lebowski (sorry sabchuk), and those are cult favorites of "my generation". - stashu
Wow....so basically, if the movie has intellectual dialogue that requires some viewer attention, you're out?
