I had no issue with Bure going into the Hall, but the rafters.... Didn`t like the way he left Vancouver though... maybe he was justified to request the trade if he thought the org went back on their word.

Criteria for the rafters should be different than the Hall. Character, being a good team mate and community contributions should also be considered when determining if a players number gets retired in the rafters.

That's why linden's up there. Hero in his local market regardless of records or trophies he brought to the organization.

But I agree with most that Bure is the only true franchise star.

Oh I'm not being serious, Seattle will never be able to support an NHL team. They want an NBA franchise again because they have a history of winning a championship.

I never liked the idea of championship teams being relocated or retracted, etc. I think it diminishes the value of the championship trophy and the honour of winning it.

Exactly, that's why no one cares if the Panthers move or fold but everyone wants the Lightning to stay in Tampa.

Bure is the only one who deserves to have his number in the rafters IMO. He won the Calder Trophy as a Canuck. He's the only player in Canucks history to have a P/G at 1 or higher in both the regular season and the playoffs.

He's one of only a handful of players in league history to ever score multiple 60 goal seasons and he did it in a Canucks uniform. Also…one of the most exciting NHL players to ever play the game, and, he's in the HHOF. The only true superstar this franchise has ever seen.

Naslund, Linden & Smyl belong in the ring of honour…nothing more. It speaks volumes to the lack of success the franchise has had over the past 45 years.

Perfect time for the Nordiques to go bankrupt again.

Not a problem. Bailout money is running on the printing presses from Ottawa to Quebec 24/7. Shocked they haven't built a pipeline yet...

I always love the CBC bashing on Sportsnet or TSN, radio or tv...

Those guys can`t even run their own networks. Sportsnet can`t reliably air Connected at 10pm. Baseball always goes long and pushes it back and on the other Sportsnet channel it is Bluejays in 30 repeating the same 30min show 8 times..,

TSN is just as bad with the same game on all 5 channels.

All the scoop from today's TSN1040 interview with the Swedish writer who published that story on the Sedins last week, in today's blog. It's clear: they want to stay in Vancouver—maybe forever.
