You can add Bartowski and Webber to that list as well if they aren't in a playoff position #1yeardeals
- 1970vintage

Yes . Weber if he scores 10 plus again will be interesting to see the return

They sort of did even after renegotiating all the contracts they still have about two mil in space
- VANTEL

But that $2 million is earmarked for Sven (or at least a significant portion thereof). In my opinion, it's going to be a two year deal for $1.3 per; however, I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being higher - just get the feeling that will be the case, given where Sven will be slotting in.

They are close to three mil in space today. I had about a mil marked for Sven

He is third line left wing to start , I would think

I hope the hell Vrbata Hamhuis Higgins Prust and Burrows are trade for picks this year. I will be pissed if they are not
- VANTEL

Agreed. I'll be pissed if Hamhuis is traded for just a 2nd and some random throw-in though.

Slotting players into positions they have not earned is so Edmonton Oilers.

A buddy at work said today Hamhuis is pissed at ownership. This is the very first I heard of it. I wonder how much truth there is and if anything will come out of it.

If Hamhuis can't return a quality prospect or roster player and/or pick then it will be another waste of assets. I hope Benning's learned from his earlier mistakes, otherwise it could be a slow blood-letting of assets for paltry returns.

Exactly . Canucks so far have Daniel Higgins Kenins and Prust down he left side and guys like JV and Grenier trying to crack the line up and maybe Vey or Gaunce. Mason Raymond 2.0 should not be too greedy

I agree, but you do have to provide some sort of context, based on what the team's needs are and the particular situation a player is in - Sven should (key word ''should') be able to take that next step and fill in on one of the top two lines. Worst case scenario is he's slotted into a third line role and let him continue to develop at this level; however, I don't think that's going to be the case. It's apparent he's got some decent offensive talent, he just needs to find a proper role on the team (which I realize at this stage is a bit up in the air but, again, looking at the various variables it seems to make sense)

I hope it is just under 1 mil per. Wouldn't even care if Benning held out and Sven sat for training camp. More time to look at other players and options. There is an opportunity for Sven, but he hasn't proven anything yet to make big demands.

If I'm the Sedins, Burrows or Hamhuis then I'm probably not too stoked about playing on this team for the next couple of years. But their family life matters too.

Would love to see the Sedins win a cup playing on a better team, those guys deserve it. Burrows as well, he's a clown at times but the guy goes all out to win.

IF the Nux are not in playoff position, they need to trade anyone and everyone they can who has an expiring contract or can garner a 1st rounder/ 2nd rounder in next years draft.

I agree, gotta add Weber, Stanton, Bartkowski, Vey, Miller, and Edler...

Add a bunch of cheap veterans in exchange at the deadline on expiring deals and get the best pick possible in the draft.

Hopefully get a first for each of Vrbata, Hamhuis, Burrows, Edler, Weber, Miller, and Vey for the 2016 draft...

Then resign the UFAs over the summer to one year deals, and trade them all again at the deadline the next year if they aren't in the playoff picture and keep doing that.

But they knew this was coming so they really can't pout about it.

Totally agree with your second point. I critisize Burrows too and want him traded but man that kid does try hard pretty much every night and is not scared to play in the tough areas. Sedins are a class act regardless and it would be nice to see them with a Cup.

Potentially...... If Sven is holding this up thinking he is all that, then JB made a mistake..... a top six spot is not a given by any means.

I can agree to the above but it still bugs me when players demand so much when they have proved very little.

Funny thing, in my NHL 13 GM Mode Sven was the best player in the league by 2015 season. Highest paid too.

I would disagree that is worst scenario (press box healthy scratch) although I would expect that he would at least make the third line.

Nashville would be a perfect fit. They have the cap space and a very strong Defence and prospects.

That would give them instant offence.

Can he support this statement with cold hard facts, or is his wife's sisters, brothers, 2nd cousins, stepson that lives in Edmonton his source?

Hamhuis seems like a really quiet, east going guy, don't think I've seen him pissed at anything.
