There's a LOT of reasons why the Flyers current cast of D is much maligned....LOT stands for lack-of-talent. A bunch of decent accessory pieces does not make for a good or great group....however the future is extremely bright...so I will digress.

As a player, if you have a lack of talent, you don't have a significant NHL career. Flyers defenseman have talent. The team just lacks a high end first pairing talent on the defense corps.

Our mutual friend tends to get obliterated on the cheap stuff. Its low enough on the shelf (usually by her feet) that she can reach it easily.

Hard to see where you're coming from on this one. None of these players are a true #1. However, you could add a true #1 to the d-core, slide every guy down 1 slot, and have 6 guys who compliment each other well and have a chance at making noise in the playoffs.

Sure, the future is bright; no one will deny that. But the present isn't as bad as people make it out to be.

I have no problem Keeping or trading Schenn. Yeah, he does bring Physicality that was lost with Grossey and he's good parts to his game, he's also overpaid for a 3rd pairing player. He's not developing fast enough to warrent a raise and I'm not sure if he's looking for a pay cut. So it's vitally important this year that he make some very significant steps to remain with the Flyers organization. As that is the case, I feel like Philly is already gambling on Vinny, Umby and AMac getting their games back, I would not be opposed to moving Schenn for potential assets now versuses losing him later for nothing.

I would love to see a better year out of him, that's for sure. I really don't know what is going to happen with the D this year. All signs point to Gudas being the 7th guy (Could be totally wrong about that) but personally I want to see Gudas in the lineup and see what he can do.

I agree with this, 1 legit top pair guy would help greatly and a true #1 would be huge. Hopefully the kids can fill those roles in a few years because dealing for or signing those guys in FA is next to impossible.
