Really??? Era is your least favorite??? I think that album was so hard hitting. I loved every song on it. But hey, that's music for ya, tickles some people the right way, and others the wrong way

And I actually might revise mine--
1)self titled
2) Era vulgaris
3) rated r

Qotsa are coming out with another new album too??? What'd you think of their most recent one??
- benjichronic

Like Clockwork is probably my favorite full album other than Dark Side of the Moon. I don't think a better top to bottom album has been put together in decades.

The word form Josh is that they had almost 15 songs left over that were cut from Like Clockwork sessions that didn't fit the tone/concept of that album. They're apparently going to flesh those out and release within a year and a half.

Haha. To each his own. I like the album, just don't love it. It is also the on I have listened to the least, so maybe I just need some more exposure.

Off the topic of their albums, have you heard the acoustic version of "I sat by the ocean"? Really cool version. Josh belts out some high notes and sounds gorgeous.

I also loved Dave drumming for them on Songs for the Deaf. I wish he could be their full time drummer.

I think that's kind of how I am with 'like clockwork'. I have it on right now on spotify, so I'll listen to the whole album start to finish this afternoon.

New QOTSA album?! Nice! Like Clockwork instantly became my favorite album of theirs. I thought it was excellent. Excited to see what the next one is like.

EODM is just ehh for me. I liked the first album, but really I can take or leave them.

And here I thought Dave Grohl was the one delaying the next Crooked Vultures album.

- Fryman4

I had to look EODM up...had no idea. But apparently they're coming to Philly in September.

I saw them live once, and was not very impressed. Granted it wasn't a great venue, and Josh wasn't touring with them. That is probably why I am not too crazy about them as a band though.

Not really worth seeing without Josh. Jesse steps it up when Josh is there. Still, EODM is more fun than it is serious music. That said, the show in September should be good. I'll be there.

ps, if anyone was at the show at the Mann last summer, did you catch the little throwback to their demo album they stuck in there?

When they were playing the interlude for You Can't Quit Me Baby, he started playing Spiders and Vinegaroons. I was pretty pleased as both of those are amongst my favorites. I've been a Kyuss fan since the 90s and have been following Queens of The Stone Age since their demo days. It really warmed the heart of my inner music nerd.

Keep hoping one day I'll hear them play Capsized.

Schultz, MacDonald, Streit and Medevdev can all play the right side.
- Feanor

They can, but it's tougher to defend on the off-side -- more back to play, more pucks on backhand, more playing the stick across the body, tougher to seal the wall, etc. You lose a split second here and there -- it's not ideal.

I don't think anything precludes us from seeing Schenn, Gudas and Schultz in the lineup all at the same time. One of the 'puck movers' could be eating the popcorn nightly.

It was the second time I've seen them live, and I am really glad that I went. I thought they were awesome that show. They were definitely better than the first time I saw them. The first time was at the WFC though and they opened for NiN.

After a rough start to the season -- which included a minus-five game paired with Del Zotto in the season's second game and a minus-seven mark through his first 10 games -- Schenn actually had a decent individual season when he was in the lineup.
- bmetlzer

I remember the team SV% behind those two was in the .700's for that stretch, something ridiculous. Some of it was bad defense... a lot of it was bad luck/statistical pile on.

I hope Hak looks a bit deeper than +/- when making lineup decisions -- I didn't think MDZ or Schenn really deserved to sit last season as much as they did.

The fact that Schenn can do the unglamorous and not necessarily Corsi/Fenwick friendly dirty work in the trenches but he also finished on the positive end of the shot differential ledger when on the ice is commendable. It suggests he that he an asset no matter how his role as a defensive defenseman was viewed.
- bmetlzer

Adv stats reward players that repress attempts as much as they reward players that push play.

It's an oft-repeated fallacy that defensive players aren't valued by stats -- just because some players like Grossmann get shelled in the spreadsheets.

Schenn scares me every time he goes to retrieve a puck in the corner.
