Sbisa COrrado Weber Bartowski Clendenniing do very little to excite me . Come to think of it Edler Hamhuis don't excite me either. Tanev I can live with , he is decent - VANTEL
so franson excites you? |

absolutely. And I like how you look ahead to next years ufa crop. good point. So if you look at it like Hammius is gone in a year with no one likely to replace him and we probably have no chance at seabrook with the $ he'd fetch. So ya Franson now for 2-3 years makes prefect sense. - SMBDragon
So would you go after another mediocre D-man at 5+per, or stand pat and try to acquire a prospect D-man through a trade.
Another way to look at this is...if Franson was not available right now, would you over pay to acquire him as a #4 D-man...I wouldn't think so, which is why I believe he is still available. |

Is 4-4.5 an overpayment. We pay Sbisa 3.6 I think Franson is better than Luca. |

For a team that won't be contending it is an overpayment. |

If he was available at 4-4.5 I think Boston woulds have signed him by now.
There's a reason he's still available, his skill set doesn't match his contract demands.
And yes if the Canucks could manage to get him for 4 per, then what's the holdup, they have time to make the cap work. |

Then why are we paying 7 mil per for Sedins. I get what you are saying but like I said there is no one next year either and he looks like the best UFA bargain at 4.5 for the two years. |

Well according to Franson himself the Canucks haven't been talking lately and he would love to play here. |

When their contracts were signed we were closer to contending, the Sedins wouldn't be offered those contracts this summer. |

I think Canucks should go after Franson 4 or 4.5 for 4 years. As mentioned he is better than our bottom guys. He does have a decent shot and will mix it up sometimes. We have really no one for years on D that looks outstanding . We have a boatload of Ryan Stantons.
Hamhuis is probably leaving , so it gets worse. He can be used on the PP . We can then trade Weber and hopefully find a GM enamoured by his 11 goals.
Also next year's list of UFA for D sucks once you get by Seabrook . - VANTEL
I like it if he comes at this price.
Carol the league actually needs contraction not expansion and yet another re-aligning of the divisions. With close to 10 American teams consistently making NO money/breaking even or losing 20 mil (PHX) we need to get back to basics a bit.
Contract the teams to 28 to start then go from there. 4 divisions of 7 teams and work it out. Right now the talent pool is so watered down alot of the reg. season hockey is unwatchable. With the exception of about 6-10 teams ALL other NHL teams are basically two-line hockey clubs with alot of filler. And by filler many on here know what I am talking about.
But we all know that 32 or 34 teams are coming to the NHL so Buttman can have his 20 teams in the PO's. an absolute joke. |

I think you give him the money . Put him and Sbisa top pair 30 plus minutes a night and it will pay dividends . Top 5 pick for the next 4 years |

Im in the camp of leave the playoffs alone but when you consider $ owners make in playoffs theyll probably change it to include more teams. They clearly have shown they dont give a crap about the players anyway, so they wont care if theyre half dead by the end.

Why such a stupid idea? The travel time to Alberta is the same, if not less. Granted Winnipeg would be a tad longer. And we don't have to take a 30% reduction on the dollar going to the saddle dome.
Not advocating for an all Canadian division, but I certainly don't see it as a stupid idea. - Makita
yeah it is. the timezone is totally different for every away game in the 'canadian west' division, at least an hour or two for manitoba...
the natural rivalry is in your own timezone...
how many Canucks fans will take a road trip to Edm/ Cgy... versus California??
it is ridiculous idea to have a 'Canadian' division... |

I agree the head to head games would be awesome live, I would bet we don't see the lack luster KB when he comes to Vancouver.
I've never been a big ducks fan, but they are a big team that plays hard.
Unfortunately I have family and roots associated with Winnipeg, and I have always had good times when in their city. - Makita
I like the Peg and pretty much lived there for two years... the rival for them is Minnesota, where people from the Peg will actually drive to for a game NOT Vancouver... |

Most canucks fans are retarded though... They'd rather have the sedins stay
Not realizing that getting no assets would set them back 3-5 years. - I-own_da-Northwest
This is BS. Most fans feel the Sedins are here to the end. That is not the same as wanting them here til the end of their contract.
