Anyone know what kind of skater Gagner is? - johndewar
From what I've seen, he seems to be an average NHL skater.

This I agree with - 3flyerkids
The Flyers are probably, at best, a bubble playoff team. So roll with Umberger and Lecavalier one more season since more likely than not there's no real chance of the team getting anywhere near the cup, and get rid of them next summer while perhaps getting another decent draft pick. Of course I'm hopeful Umberger has a bit of a comeback year this upcoming season after his surgeries and whatnot. If he can play solid D while chipping in 10+ goals, though still not great production for his cap hit, it would be a helpful addition to the team. |

Well, in his only OHL year, as a 17-year-old, he did put up over 100 points. He was then thrown to the wolves and a 18-year-old in Edmonton and, well...yeah. So he definitely has the tools. - jmatchett383
Put him and Couts together and tell them it's not the NHL, it's not the NHL...
I'm excited to see what he can do. Gagner, Medvedev and Marti. Looking forward to seeing them all in O&B. |

I'm cool with this. Also, Vinny can be very helpful with gathering up the pucks after practice.

From yesterday's blog: First game
It was in 92-93 or 93-94, can't remember which. It was against the Quebec Nordiques. Claude Boivin was on the cover of "Flyers" magazine (I don't remember if I got the player insert or not). There was a string band that played maybe 3 rows above us at one point, and there were guys handing out scoresheets after the first and second period (only time I've ever seen that happen at a game, same for my dad). I seem to remember Dave Tippett scoring a goal, which would make it possibly November 4, 1993. |

What makes me nervous, is that outside of Voracek, Raffl and Read (assuming he is healthy), there is a real lack of speed among the Flyers top 9 forwards.

Well, that's more than we can say for Brayden Schenn, I guess.

I agree with this. This year really is about Hakstol installing his system, Hextall determining who is a fit in said system, and making roster adjustments accordingly. Helping the last point involves trading a couple of dman and resolving the Vinnie fiasco. I think there is a chance that RJ bounces back somewhat, but if not then he'll need to get moved as well.

Well, none of them are quite on the level of Patrick Juhlin. Or Vladislav Bulin (still playing in the KHL at 43, according to wikipedia). |

Absolutely agree. If Konecny and Aube-Kubel can work their way into the lineup over the next 2 years, that would help. They need one more speedy winger on the left though, preferably someone with size. |

Yeah, I wonder if they can up with line combos to get at least one plus skater on each line?
Maybe something like:
Raffl-Giroux-Gagner
Umberger-Schenn-Voracek
Read-Couturier-Simmonds
Nah, I just don't like those combos. If they just had one more quality LW, this would be a lot easier.
