I think PEB can be a 20 point guy is he gets a chance to play up the lineup as a middle six LW.

He actually looked pretty decent when he was out there w/ Simmer and Schenn -- maybe that's worth revisiting. |

Yup, moving Gagner and Simmonds around to see what works best would be fine.
And even though I listed Couturier first (because he will get more ES ice time) if BSchenn plays center in 15-16 then Schenn will have a higher ES OZ start% than Couturier. That's fine, too, so long as Couturier's number is closer to 45% than 40% and he has decent wings. |

Exactly. Nobody is saying Couturier needs to forego being the main defensive guy. Most just want to see a more balanced load. |

Put him and Couts together and tell them it's not the NHL, it's not the NHL...
I'm excited to see what he can do. Gagner, Medvedev and Marti. Looking forward to seeing them all in O&B. - wolfhounds
gagner had an 8 point game in edm a couple years back (4g, 4a) so he has some skill. i think being here might be better for him |

His cap hit doesn't preclude him being sent to the minors, his NMC does.
If Umberger is totally ineffective he could be waived to the AHL and replaced with a guy like Leier. But Vinny can't. - Feanor
I said his CONTRACT. |

Looks like Semin will be in a Habs jersey.
Semin is on the back of his shirt.
Semin shoots! And it's corralled by the goalie.
What if he takes a shot and hits someone's face? "Semin shoots and...oh no I believe it hit Avery in the face..."

I remember someone had a sign during the 2008 series against the Caps that read something like:
"Ovi Laichs Semin"
I admit that I chuckled a little at that. |

Pebbles reminds me so much of a slightly older, slightly less dynamic Raffl. He just does all the little things right in terms of forecheck, backcheck, puck retrieval, pk work. He has tenacity and speed and smarts. I would much rather have Umberger play on the 4th if he's playing. This is all contingent on Laughton not making the team which moves things around a bit. Wouldn't mind Coots seeing time with Jake as his RW either, but it's probably going to be Simmer.

Wow, the guy is 30 years old and scored what..5 goals last year? All of a sudden he has the skills to be a top 9 forward?
Hell, I like the guy in a 4th line role and on the PK, but if Bellemare is getting 13-15 minutes a night in the top 9, you are a lottery team. |

Yep, yep. Ease it back a bit, not a ton and you have more balance and are giving him more of a fair shake. That's all, he will always take the hardest minutes. Here's the kicker though....look at the leaders in Rel QoC, and then check out their Rel Quality of Teammate:
Fehr: 1.777 Rel QoC / -2.167 Rel QoT
Ward: 1.655 / -2.174
Couture: 1.591 / 1.071
Marleau: 1.584 / .722
Hossa: 1.522 / 1.554
David Jones: 1.504 / -.062
Toews: 1.496 / .993
Read: 1.475 / -1.415
Coots: 1.422 / -2.340
Bergeron: 1.413 / 4.675
Notice who has the best Rel QoT (Bergeron). Who has the worst? Coots. That's where that comparison falls apart. And Coots also has a whole heck of a lot more potential than perennial third liners Fehr and Ward who are his next closest in terms of crappy QoT. Something has to give. |

No, you're totally minconstruing the interview. There is nothing in the interview that states he was a genuine/nice guy, that's simply how you perceived it, which is wrong. In reality, what you fail to realize is that AMac is his father's son, and he is in fact not genuine due to him being an NHL tweener. - jmatchett383
But... but.... I thought he was a solid top 4 guy?! Isn't that why he's paid 5 mil a year?????
And for the record... I DO think he's a nice man you argumentative son of a female dog. |

Where did I say this? I said I'd rather him play on the 3rd than Umberger, that's all, and considering Umby was our worst forward last year (and it remains to be seen if he won't be this year) that's not exactly the highest of praise lol. The Schenn/PEB/Simmer line actually did really good work when it was together last year. He's a super super solid 4th liner on a good playoff team who can be moved up in a pinch from time to time. Doesn't mean he's a bonafide top 9 lock, just has versatility. Feanor gave a 20 point estimate in regards to potential. I agree. And that's elite 4th line production with what else he brings. I never said he's a third liner. |

We could always look into getting the guy in the middle of this photo:
Maybe he'd have some chemistry with Giroux.

All the centers were used as 3rd defensemen last season. I think Bellemare has the speed and skill to score 20 points if he's given a more offensive role. That's not an outlandish claim considering he got 12 as a rookie averaging less than 11 minutes a game at ES and getting almost no PP time.
Streit came over from Europe and scored 11 points in 48 games as a 28 year old NHL rookie, then bumped that up to 36 points in 76 games as a 29 year old, and 62 points in 81 games as a 30 year old. That's far, far more than the modest eight point bump I think Bellemare is capable of. |

Fair nuff, hope you're right. I didn't see the "hands" you want in a scorer, but the rest of his game is good. |
