I think it's great that you have that optimism for Gagner, and I certainly hope he has a strong offensive season. Personally, I want the centers on the team to all be strong two way, 200 foot players. I want players who are factors in all 3 zones. I don't see Gagner ever being that kind of player at center. - MJL
I agree. The problem for me is, Gagner might possibly be our third best playmaker on the team behind Giroux and Voracek now. Also by stats if you look at last season, he already becomes our third best faceoff man. Briere wasn't a good defensive player but was best suited for the middle and had the ability to know when to shoot or pass the puck. Skating was always on Briere's side as well which might be the only real difference.
How old was Briere when he broke out with the Sabers?

Radko Gudas, Luke Schenn, Wayne Simmonds, Ryan White and Brayden Schenn. I'm glad we're still somewhat physical. - SuperSchennBros
Would really like to see Schenn get back to his physical game. He was so beastly his rookie season in the playoffs. Haven't seen that version of him since Asham chopped him in the throat.

It's not an easy thing to play the physical game and bring production every night. Heck, physical play might keep you off the ice in terms of the penalty box and the recommendation of the coach resting you (match ups).
