I like this signing. Not sure how it will turn out, but it's basically PA Parenteau for less money. Buying him out now makes more sense. He should put up more points than Parenteau last year (this year, we'll see), so we should come out a better team. At 1.1M$ for 1 year, there is little risk and a high potential, I don't understand how anyone could say this is a bad signing. |

Phenomenal low-risk signing.
As for the PAP comparison. I'd have given him another year anyway as he couldn't get any worse. He'll have a good bouce-back year in toronto (45 points?) which could be better than what Semin produces. |

He's not a first line RW. There's a reason we got him for 1.1 million. Low risk signing but don't expect him to produce like a 1st line player. |

Not a spectacular off season but a positive one no doubt and if offence was the real issue than Semin and Kassian should provide a lot more than Prust

I prefer the 2 new guys over Prust and pap
Prust just didn't have the finish in him - from what I recall he missed many easy opportunities - if kassian can hit 15 goals - that would be a nice trade for the Habs |

The money saved and 5th rounder already make it a nice trade, 15 goals would make it robbery |

low risk no doubt.
but semin is a first line right winger for maybe a month out of the entire season.
he'll help the offence marginally overall.
kassian for prust is a win for the habs

Prust PAP had 12 goals combined last year
Semin Kassian combo I believe will hit 35 between the 2 |

Improving on weaknesses while saving money yet people still claim Bergevin is doing nothing |

I think everyone was expecting MB getting as Oshie, or O'Reiley. Semin and Kassian should provide more offense than PAP and Prust. I think it also sends a bit of a message to MT that he is not going to go out and get a bunch of grinders becuase the have heart and are better defensively. When you have the best goalie in the world, you can take a chance on some of these guys.
Lets not forget the Petry signing as well. |

It's either that or Fire Therrien. Can't have your cake and eat it too... or is it can't have your cakes after you've traded it away?? |

People are never happy... it's either dump or Bergevin or on Therrien.
Some people just don't get that the prospect pool is being re-built and that without that prospect pool, trading for players requires roster players which we don't have to spare. |

Before the season starts, both Gilbert and Desharnais will be traded.... making room for youth.
4 strong forward lines
Habs will be top 3 PP scoring
Pac 44goals
Semin 28goals
Galch 32 goals #1 center
Kassian 26 goals
MT takes a big step to using his talented players more....possession game!
McCarron and Scherbak will be brought up for the playoffs...good move!

Is this a joke? All those goal totals are extreme stretches. You can expect:
Paccioretty: 35-40
Semin: anywhere from 10-25
Galch: 20 to max 30
Kassian: 10 to max 20
And if by some crazy chance all those guys do reach their max goals, we'll be going from one of the lowest scoring teams to one of the highest, which is quite unlikely.... |

Habs Talk: A First Line RW in Semin, by Andrew Saadalla
Quick look at the Semin Signing - Habs Talk
With the new additions and assuming no one moves, I like a lineup of:
Paccioretty - Desharnais - Semin
Galch - Plek - Gallagher
DSP - Eller - Kassian
De La Rose - Mitchell - Weise
Extra: Flynn
I see it as being pretty tough for a young guy to make the team, they will have to really stand out now, a la Gallagher or Bournival in their breakout training camps. |

Kinda funny how you say its extremely exaggerated but yet you list Max at only 4 goals less, Semin 3, Kassian 6 and Galchenyuk only 2 goals less than what he predicted, for a grand total of 15 goals between the 4 of them... still, I agree its very unlikely |
