Before the season starts, both Gilbert and Desharnais will be traded.... making room for youth.

4 strong forward lines

Habs will be top 3 PP scoring

Pac 44goals
Semin 28goals
Galch 32 goals #1 center
Kassian 26 goals

MT takes a big step to using his talented players more....possession game!

McCarron and Scherbak will be brought up for the playoffs...good move!

Kinda funny how you say its extremely exaggerated but yet you list Max at only 4 goals less, Semin 3, Kassian 6 and Galchenyuk only 2 goals less than what he predicted, for a grand total of 15 goals between the 4 of them... still, I agree its very unlikely
- user1

Thats if you are assuming they all reach their max potential, which is highly unlikely.

Im saying if I were betting I'd put

Paccioretty: 36 goals
Semin: 18 goals
Kassian: 14 goals
Galchenyuk: 25 goals

And by the way 15 goals combined is a ton of goals would hypothetically put Montreal from 19 in the league in scoring to 10th... Would also probably mean about 8-10 more wins

Regular season stats are fine, but the question should be, does alex semin and zack kassian make this a better playoff team than having PAP and prust on it? The difference will be marginal in the post season with these so called upgrades.

They are definitely marginal upgrades. I do think Semin still has the chance to be a solid top 6 winger, regular season or playoffs. Analytically, he was the best Hurricane forward in his tenure there. I think sometimes guys like Semin get an unfairly bad reputation, I think if he was Canadian there would be less of an emphasis on his bad character and unwillingness to compete, as the statistics don't show that.

It's funny Sabres fan and Leafs fans are making fun of Habs fans every year and the habs are the one in the playoff every year while the 2 are no where to be found after Christmas. You can add Howard, Stormey, Pecafan Fan and WaterBoy as a Leafs fan.

every single player that's young and developing, has been signed, traded for, or is just new to the squad will have career years and absolutely dominate

He had 6 goals in 57 games last year. Not exactly lighting the lamp on a regular basis. Nobody can argue his talent, but his give a crap meter has been at an all time low for the last few seasons. With that said, on a one year deal, he should be motivated to produce this season to cash in as a UFA. I'm not sure what he will be like in the playoffs tho. He has 15 career playoff goals, and that was back when he was actually trying.

Semin. I watched him play his way out of DC. I watched him play his way out of Carolina. What makes someone think that he will change his ways? He will be in the KHL in no time. The fans will be calling for his head about mid-season. He has talent, which is intriguing to some, but he just doesn't have the desire to use it. After 10 years, he hasn't been able to put it together. I would have passed, and let his inevitable leaving for the KHL commence.

Again, 1,1 m a year. He's paid less than some 4th liners.

at 1.1 for 1 year it really is a low risk move for the habs. Worst case is he doesn't produce and you get rid of him. I'm not sure the KHL is an option for him. Why would he not go now? I'm sure some team in the KHL offered him more then the habs signed him for.

You send him down to the minors, $925k (pro-rated for the season) comes off the books. If he is a total disaster, this is less than a $200k cap hit.
