Gionta's been more productive and generally moves better than Briere past few years. Gionta's probably a better leader. So, I ask you..
Why. - TheSabresTaco
a better leader I think they be the same I'm just saying he. Be cheaper and I just watched the highlights of our great Danny after listening to him on hockey hotline lol |

Gionta's stats were better than Briere's last year. And that's with playing on a far less talented team than Briere was on.
I don't think there's much difference in the leadership part to be quite honest. I'm perfectly happy with Gionta being the Captain for the next two years and then handing it down to one of the Latvians. Just one of them. - HonkFortheGoose

Cost isn't an issue for us. Gionta's contract will be up before we have to start worrying about our cap situation.
And Briere would be cheaper because he's not as effective of a player anymore. It's a simple as that. |

You do know that the man most instrumental in landing the 2011 World Juniors was Larry Quinn, right? |

Also, you could have Meep the Muppet in there doing that. The people in charge of the world juniors see two things.
1- What is going on in Buffalo with harbor center
2 - Proximity to Canada |

I don't think its fair to compare stats with last season in Colorado... something happened over there last year and the whole team fell apart. I am a huge Briere fan, and while i know he's played RW before, I don't know where he'd fit here cause he certainly isn't top 6 worthy anymore.
That being said I'd love to dust off my Briere jersey one last time before he hangs em up. |

I'm sure black had nothing do with the draft being in Buffalo or the Columbine or the Erie Otters game or the all-american prospect tournament |

That's great and all, but while all that was going on the team had a lot of in-fighting, in which Pegula did not like. The Sabres were poorly run and that starts from the team president. |

The point is that I don't think Buffalo's relationship with USA Hockey isn't anywhere near dependent on Ted Black. The foundation is well in place. The only thing that would hurt it is either USA Hockey being very sour that Ted Black is out for some reason (which I doubt), or Russ Brandon completely ignoring the fact that there is a valuable relationship there altogether (which I also doubt). |

The LaFontaine fallout
The continued feud between the HC and the GM.
Black became non existent. He did a lot when he first got here, he just started to fade into the Black (pun intended) the last year or so.

For anyone who liked the concept of the hockey game I talked about before (non-graphical, not hands on - all management), there's a baseball version too that is currently available for any price you want to pay on the Humble Bundle Weekly Bundle site. It's called Out of the Park Baseball
It's cool because you can play historical seasons dating back to 1871. It uses real players (but not real team names - OOTP 16 will be fully licensed apparently) and can include real historical stats for records as well.
Highly recommend it for people who like this sort of game. |
