Great viewing to look forward to. Like a grit-less, less talented version of Kesler. Does he sleep with his team-mates' wives as well or or only the less attractive ones? |

Not at all surprised . They had 6 guys who did nothing but play safe. They need grit , a puck mover and a guy with a shot - VANTEL
My point is they have less physical bodies back there now than at the draft with no one new to slot in, upgrade or otherwise. Unless Benning is angling a trade to bring in more D we'll be desperately thin back there should even a single injury occur. |

From what I've seen of Sutter (roughly a dozen games) I will concur that he is not a gritty player in the slightest.
Anyone who thinks we just acquired a gritty, 2 way center needs to dispel that thought immediately. Sutter is fairly mediocre and just about every PIT fan that I've read today are happy to see the back of him. - AlexF
You're pretty much spot on about Sutter. What you'll get is a guy who is pretty decent at face-offs, positions himself well on PKs, will score the occasional pretty SHG in the far-side, upper corner and will be good in the locker room. I'm not sure where the stats came from that he had 80+ hits, if he did, that was really generous and most of those were slight contact along the boards. I can't think of one solid check he ever threw.
I think Pens fans big issue with him is he was brought in as a Jordan Staal replacement - and he never even came close to that. He was handcuffed with some pretty poor wingers for the majority of this stay in Pit, but he never really did anything with his opportunities to play with Malkin. He also never made anyone that he played with better, and was going to be lost at the end of this year for nothing. He is not worth 3.3 mil, and definitely shouldn't get a longterm deal for more money. A lot of people feel he is paid/praised solely because of the last name on his jersey.
The Pens are just happy to flip him for a guy who is, at very least, similarly skilled, almost half the cost, and has an additional year on his contract. Throw in moving up a few spots in the draft and a semi decent prospect, and you've got some pretty happy Pens fans. |

Whats the difference between Biega and Clendenning. Clen couldn't be sent down but basically the same player. He was a fart in s windstorm. Unoticable |

If he got him for league minimum you wouldn't give him credit. |

I like that it's a 1 year deal. Looks like JB is clearing the deck for next year. #rebuild |

Apparently, the Sutter deal was on the table since the draft. That's probably why it took so long to get the Baertschi deal done. Definitely under $1.2 million. That's how much they have + an AHL call up. |

If the Flames really were the problem we should find out this year. A bridge contract is nothing to scoff at. I honestly Sven could have a really solid year in green and blue.
My only question is, if he's playing with Sutter........... Is sutter a decent puck mover? I know he has a good end to end game defensivlely and can pop in 15-20 a year but can he distribute? |

This is why I highly doubt Sutter is just being acquired to flip at the TDL, Benning really likes him. |

1 year @4.5 full NMC - VANTEL
Benning will pay an extra 2M to avoid the NMC |
