I will be truthful. Most fans on here that made a projected lineup card had McCann and Cassels ahead of Bonino. We are talking about a guy that didn't have a future with this team after next year. I think Sutter has a better in front of the net game than Bones and hits more. - VANTEL
Not this year, right? Hell, even for next year that's a stretch unless both develop really rapidly. |

Pens fan said this. - Nucker101
Yeah but they also think that they are getting Kesler in this trade. I bet halfway through the year they ask if we want Bonino back. |

I think better said would be we had posters proposing lineups and the discussion was around us having 3 third lines
and talk of Bo being second line centre.
I think Booner is right, this just solidifies it for Horvat. |

Most fans think Bo is better then both of those guys. Bo didn't outscore bonino. So how would those two guys be ahead of Bonino. Bonino for one more year at that cap hit scores 40 plus points would get you a first at the TDL. |

Doubtful, he's a similar talent to Sutter and much cheaper. Allowed them to sign Fehr and they also moved up in the draft. Their issue has always been lack of quality draft picks and a weak bottom 6, this trade helped both. |

In the end, I'm confident that I will look less foolish then those who are defending every one of his moves or keep saying "it's not that bad"(you definitely don't fall into that category). - Nucker101
It's just the chicken little attitude that gets annoying. As I said earlier I think we overpaid a little in the trade, but I also think Sutter slots in better to the role that's expected of him ( or Bonino if he was still here ).
The incessant criticism of a GM's moves 14 months into his tenure without actually taking a look at or acknowledging his long range plan is a little too much.
I'm gonna bet you cried when Linden got traded if you're even old enough to remember. Pretty much the entire city was outraged yet it turned into one of the better deals in franchise history.
Let it play out.

I think you're underestimating WD's love for vets. If everyone stays healthy in camp, you'll end up disappointed with the opening night lineup. I said the same at the TDL this year when people thought we might sell and at the draft when people expected or hoped for Hamhuis or Vrbata gone.

Bonino will not score 40 PTs this year. He will be third line on the pens. He wouldn't score 40 here also on our 3 rd line |

Pretty much. He actually reminds me of Shawn Matthias. - Nucker101
That's what i was thinking as well.
Bit of head scratcher that we let Matthias walk and the flipped this package for a close replica.... |

I'm well aware that I'm annoying.
I feel like with 90% of Benning's moves I keep hearing "well he overpaid a little...." That doesn't sound like a good GM to me.

WD coached him though and he has more experience than the rookies so WD will make it so that it's his job to lose. I'd argue that Torts was more of a coach who didn't worry about pissing player's off and just tried to win(it was his actual system and style of play that he was too stubborn with).
WD has a more free-flowing system of play but he does his best to not ruffle any feathers in the locker room and is super loyal. |

Lol Jordan staal scored 20 goals for Pitt 4 seasons. In three years with carolina he has 31. Bonino has 39 points last season with basically no one. He will break 40 easily in Pitt. |

agreed, i predict CAssels will pass G eventually, just not this season.
I say Cassels needs more seasoning. Grit can come from the wingers.
What we really need is someone strong the f/o dot. |

You still don't know what the end game will be. Maybe he'll flip Prust for a nice pick at the deadline, maybe Sutter will be moved as well or re-signed to a reasonable deal.
You just need to relax a little. |

So you have it as Veys job to lose?
Like I said earlier this summer , if Vey is your number 4 centre , and I am Cole Cassels , I skate right over to Vey and say drop me, we are going to fight. |

I think I understand why now. Sutter will take mainly defensive zone faceoffs. Vey will take only offensive ones. Lose of richardson, need a legit PK center. Net front presence on the 2nd pp. He replaces Mathias 20 goals. |
