His linemates in Ahaheim were typically Beleskey(Before Beleskey was good) and Palmieri.
He scored 22 goals and 49 point playing the 3rd and 4th lines for the Ducks. The Canucks mistakenly thought he would be a great 2nd line center and he just thrives better on lower lines. - j0e Th0rnton
Seems like a good fit for the Pens. Extra year and 1.4 mil cheaper. Worst part is waiting another 2 months to get to see all our new pieces together. |

Me too. Kunitz could very well have a bounce back year and that would be a huge asset to us this season, but with all the top 9 forwards we have right now would a bounce back Kunitz be a bigger asset to us than Franson in the top 4? Especially when considering we'll have to make room for contract extensions next season. We will more than likely have to move Kunitz then, so why not now? - Victoro311
Kunitz still has value and term so moving him this year is best BUT maybe we hold out until the deadline and see how the kids play or how injuries pan out. |

Maybe Ace (Sam Ventura) was the one that made this happen. Rutherford said Fehr and Bonino were targeted due to their analytics. - jfkst1
Sure if you ignore the fact the trade talks were kicked off a month prior to the draft. |

Talked to my Hawks friends. They say the reason he was moved was because the Hawks wanted to set the development clock back because Clendening was NHL ready but fell behind TVR, Runblad, and Johns in the depth chart. Traded him away for an equal prospect who was a few more years away. Not saying he's great since he did fall behind so many other prospects in his system but he's definitely not a bust yet.
I think I'm officially team trade Kunitz. With all this forward depth, we can use Franson in a top 4 role much more than Kuntz in a middle 6 role. If we could get rid of Scuderi and sign Franson with those savings, that would be ideal, but I just don't see that happening. Kunitz would probably likely need to be moved next offseason to make room for Maatta, Plotnikov, and possibly Perron and Bennett extensions depending on how each perform this year. I'd hate seeing The Kun go from a sentimental standpoint, but it might be what's best for this team at this juncture - Victoro311
I'm with you completely though I'd love it if they could find a way to move Scuderi off the roster. |

I agree, If you can bring in Franson you have to do it. I'm concerned about our D. |

I'm not quite there yet. It depends on the development of Plotnikov.
With Scuderi and a complete waste of $3.5M still on the roster....I'm not sure I'd move Kunitz who can still be useful. Although if JR keeps fleecing people then maybe I'll be okay with it lol.

HockeyCap has our cap space at $1.125 M., which includes Zatkoff at backup and Clendenning in the AHL. Is this our current cap number? |

I don't think you can trade Kunitz. You got Kessel, Hornqvist, Perron, Kunitz Duper, Plot as top 9 wings right? With Fehr able to bump up. That depth looks a lot better with Kunitz in it then without. Franson would be a nice pick up but I'd prefer it not be at Kunitz expense. |

If we're bringing in a defenseman, it needs to be a legitimate top 4 defenseman who excels at defending. Is Franson that guy? I'm not quite sure.
I'd like to have him but at the expense of Kunitz...I dunno... |

I think Bonino will be a nice fit here. Doesn't really have the offence of a top 2 line center or the defense of a classic 3C, but since the Pens have all those bases covered they can use him to build an extra depth scoring line or bounce him around with injuries or even to wing if more scoring punch is needed somewhere. Real nice depth player. |

nucks blogger did a nice job of pointing out some things that make it seem like less of a loss for the nucks.... one can spin anything
even if bonino and sutter turn out to be a wash (on ice wise) ... I feel this is likely...
the prospect the pick swap and the cap space make this a steal. |

Maybe that second rounder could be dealt with Scuds for a 4th or something. There's money for Franson right there. |

Sutter probably despises Ruth now. Traded twice and called out by saying this team misses Staal
EDIT:
Rutherford: "Believe it or not, (Sutter) is one of my favorite guys ... and I ended up trading him twice."
Yeah right Ruth C'mon. |

That number includes Wilson on the roster and the Pens carrying 8 D-men. Not sure the Pens will carry 8, but then what do they do with Erixon, I am assuming he has to clear waivers to be sent down. Even if Wilson isn't on the roster, somebody else with a similar cap hit will. Same if Erixon is sent down, probably a similar cap hit 13th forward would be brought up, so that number is pretty close to where their available cap space will be to start the season. Assuming of course there are no more moves. As much as I hope Scuds is moved, I just highly doubt it happens at this point. |
