Sutter was under-appreciated around here. With better wingers around him in Vancouver he's likely to flourish, and I wish him well.
That said, the Penguins are a better team because of this deal. |

additional year of Bonino as well - dbell646
Yeah, even if Bonino isn't any better (which I think he is a little bit), he's cheaper and signed for another year. Sutter will either walk or sign a bigger deal that he's not worth. |

HockeyCap has our cap space at $1.125 M., which includes Zatkoff at backup and Clendenning in the AHL. Is this our current cap number? - errey12
Lots of cap numbers being thrown around because we have 9 dmen and 11 forwards that need to clear waivers. I'm almost positive with 3 years as a pro Clendening would need to clear waivers. I'd go with Pensburgh's 2.38 without Erixon, Clendening, and only 11 forwards and work from there. Adding 2 prospects puts us right around 1M.
But I doubt the Pens would trade for Clendening and put him on waivers, so I'd have them with 12F and 8D. I'm fine going 12F with this team and calling up a guy with injuries with the buffer, but I'll expect they move a Dman. Even with a bad season, Clendening as a RD makes more sense then Scuderi as the 7th D since RD Lovejoy is the likely guy to bump up with injuries. |

It will prove most interesting to see who RW's next whipping boy will be now that his beloved Adams and now Sutter are gone.
Too much drama and personal inflection for me, but yeah, I'll continue to read, if for no other reason than entertainment.
Every GM has made bad decisions, as like injuries, which the Pens should get some kind of trophy for the past three seasons, new players don't always pan out.
Just sayin'... GO PENS !! |

On Eric Fehr....
The Canucks are the latest possibility I have heard interested in Eric. Fehr brings a lot to the table and has many options if he is willing to take a short term deal or a little less. Someone will get a steal here...
Haha.maybe part of the deal was for Van not sign fehr |

Wow, Pens fans. I'm happy for you guys. Basically shelled out Sutter for Bonino (upgrade), Clendening (Harrington replacement), and Fehr (super bonus). Also, you traded up a round. |

Shall we plan the parade now Mr. Wilson, seems like you have been drinking too much Penquin kool aid, lol
The Canucks basically traded Bonino for Sutter, and depending on what you are looking for it is a fair deal, the rest of the deal is relatively minor. Bonino for Sutter is fair but the big picture Sutter for Kesler makes the nucks look bad. That being said Kesler is a tool and most were glad to see him go but management could have gotten much more for him but then again they do not have me on their management team.
The strange thing about some trades is that initially they may look bad for one team but at the end of the year sometimes you just gotta admit , wow was I wrong about that one. I will say very good deal for Pens though as Bonino does not have a Sutter heart but he can score goals and could produce in a top six role. Good luck to both teams on this one. |

If we're bringing in a defenseman, it needs to be a legitimate top 4 defenseman who excels at defending. Is Franson that guy? I'm not quite sure.
I'd like to have him but at the expense of Kunitz...I dunno... - YouMeAndDupuis9
Would have loved to kept Martin. Had Scuderi not been on the roster we would have been able to pull it off considering the friendly deal he signed in SJ. Imagine our current roster with our new found forward depth and Scuds out Martin in on D. In the works of Palmer- wow. |

Now can the Pens lose in the 1st round of the playoffs so that the Leafs get a better pick than 30th from the Kessel deal. |

Need some NHL Game Center help. I'm in the Army and will be deploying during the season. Will Game Center still be blacking out the games on NBCSN, NBC and NHL Network? Seems like last year every dang game was blacked out because they were on national cable broadcasts.
If they will still be blacked out, is there any other service (internet based, as I won't have cable) that will carry all the games and not black out the national TV ones? |

We traded Sutter for Bonino, Fehr, for a prospect, a pick, and most importantly salary cap relief. Yes the Pens are a deeper team today. We are excited because most would've been happy with a pick then signing Fehr. |

I couldn't be more happy with this deal and the signing of Fehr. It benefits the cap situation and we're looking at a far deeper team all around.
Good work, JR. |

I'm not sure this is necessarily true. While Sutter may get some better wingers to play with, he will also face the opposing team's better lines. Malkin and Crosby drew the other teams best defenders and left the rest for the 3rd/4th line. |
