From: https://www.hockeyscap.com/ltir_faq
When a player has an injury of which they are expected to miss 10 games and 24 days, the team can place them on long term injured reserve (LTIR) to receive cap relief.
Basic Formula Example
The league upper limit is $69M. A team has an averaged club salary of $68M and a player with a cap hit of $5M becomes injured and the team places him on LTIR. The team is now permitted to spend up to a new limit of $72M:
Cap hit of LTIR player is $5M
Amount of cap space available to team = $69M - $68M = $1M
Amount team can exceed the cap = $5M - $1M = $4M
New limit = $68M + $4M = $72M - eggsegan
Yes but it is only replacement money. You do nt save the money. so if someone replaces him who earns less you cannot deduct the remaining and add that value when the player returns.
thus whatever his cap hit is we are now able to spend that amount while he is not playing.
of course it would be better if your star player is mildly injured and you decide to give him an extra two to three weeks off in order to trade for other players with biggish cap hits and then the player magically is better for the play offs and the new players do not count against the cap. |

i feel bad for bergy a bit, but this is great news. opens up good space. if in the least magnus is decent he could fetch trade value, at the very least. at the best if he got regular shifts heck yeah.
i am not as yet sold on fabbri. i think rattie also has earned a regular shift. he got better last season. |

Well, as long as we're inviting abuse, all those back-alley Chicago rapist fans are shouting about how that girl wanted it and is a gold digger.

Al Arbour died. Just another in a litany of former Blues that went on to have fabulous success for other organizations. You could paper the walls with the names of hockey men that played/ coached for the Blues and went on to win Stanley Cups.
Al Arbour
Scotty Bowman
Joel Quenneville
Brett Hull
Brendan Shanahan
Plan the parade... of Cup winners with other organizations. |

It's really amazing to consider, through all the years, no matter whose been in charge, how badly this franchise has been managed.
For every one good decision it seems, they've made probably five bad.

Such a debacle. Did you see JJ's column? Rumor is that he's going to be charged with lesser crimes and will settle civilly out of court...
Regardless of whether you think he did it or not, isn't there a way that this guy could avoid the spotlight for bad stuff? |

i know man. which means the criminal justice systems is crap. it also means all these azzclowns now will think she was nothing but a gold digger and rape culture is alive and well. she went back to his house in the middle of the night drunk she must have been asking for it crap.
two laws in this country. you can tamper with a witness and pay her off or you can be like any other joe and pay the price for your crime.
almost seems like pegula had this fixed and soon buffalo will be trading for kane. |

Would you trade him for Berglund in the lineup with say 1.75mm in cap savings? |

If he is healthy I think I would
Berglund and Upshall would bring the same offense and I feel Upshall is a better defensive player
Berg at his cap hi is way overpaid IMO |

The biggest thing that Berglund brings to the table are his possession numbers. He was 6th among forwards with the Blues in Corsi last year while Upshall was 10th on the Panthers.
I don't think any free agent currently available can fill the possession numbers that Bergy had. Honestly, I'd rather see them fill the spot with a player like Rattie than spend $ on Upshall or Gomez.
In my mind, this is Pajaarvi's shot...
Trust the organization that you've built.
If Upshall gets a gig with the Blues it's because Hitch thinks he'll promote Hitch's message with the players. |

Saw this and reminded me of the rivalry back in the day....
A Blues fan liked to amuse himself by scaring every Red Wings fan he saw strutting down the street in an obnoxious hockey jersey. He would swerve his van as if to hit them, then swerve back just missing them.
One day while driving along, he saw a priest. He thought he would do a good deed, so he pulled over and asked the priest, "Where are you going, Father?"
"I'm going to give Mass at St. Francis church, about two miles down the road," replied the priest.
"Climb in, Father. I'll give you a lift!" The priest climbed into the passenger seat, and they continued down the road.
Suddenly, the driver saw a Red Wings fan walking down the road, and he instinctively swerved as if to hit him. But, as usual, he swerved back onto the road just in time.
Even though he was certain that he had missed the guy, he still heard a loud THUD. not knowing where the noise came from, he glanced in his mirrors but still didn't see anything. He then remembered the priest, and he turned to the priest and said, "sorry Father, I almost hit that Red Wings fan."
"That's OK," replied the priest "I got him with the door."
