Compared to what Stamkos will sign either this year or next summer, all of these contracts will look good. - cap1681
I think he hits 10.5-11+..
His agent will point to Toews' deal first. Stamkos has better numbers. |

I think he gets 96M over 8 years...
1st 12M player in the Salary Cap era. |

Definitely could see it.
Everyone from 4th liners to the elite are getting paid more and more each year. Hello lockout.

Shockingly, there weren't any "what the f#@k" contracts this summer in free agency.
Everybody thought Beleskey was going to get 5M+, he signed for 3.8M
Same with Frolik, he signed for 4.3M
Only one i can think of was Detroit signing Green, but even then, it wasn't horrible. |

I think we're beginning to see a squeeze on the non-top end contracts. I can see guys in the middle range kind of stagnating while the Stamkoses, Voraceks, and Toewses of the league keep getting more expensive.
As for another lockout (edit: speaking in general here, not directing this at you), let's not act like these contracts are a signal of that. The signal for the next lockout was going two for two on locking out after the last two CBAs expired. |

Honestly, the NHL should just implement maximum contracts like they do in the NBA. Kinda poopty not being able to lock players up who you want to lock up and want to be locked up, but it prevents a bigger problem. |

If the league is in fact going to expand, there won't be a lockout anytime soon. Way too much money on the line! |

they'll expand, maybe extend the CBA a year or two, then lockout again. I'd be pretty surprised if we don't see another lockout. |

After expansion, yes. But the lockout within a couple years suggestion is ridiculous. (Not aimed at you, although I couldn't give a rats ass if you were offended) |

This article... the comments. So much disappointment ahead. It's like a friend who bought a new car. They're really happy, but you know the car's not very good and in a few months they're going to hate it.
Never hated Sutter, always hoped he'd do well, but the fancy stats, not-so-fancy stats, and eye tests seem to agree that he's just not very good. The only number that isn't bad is goal total last season, which I'm guessing GMJR mentioned 3 or 4 times per minute during trade discussions (while also probably throwing out "2nd line caliber" and "stuck behind 87 and 71" multiple times as well). |

Yeah I think so too. Crazy how Franson and Hoff are still out there. I'd bet they were looking for too much and nobody offered it so they got skipped over and Green etc. were signed instead.
Green's deal wasn't terrrible. Detroit has been after that RHD for what seems like forever, I bet they didn't have a problem tossing him a few extra bucks. |

From what TSN was saying it is term. Franson wants 3 years minimum.
Ehrhoff wants to purely go to a contender, but that means waiting for a contender to clear cap space. He also wants to be the PP go to guy. Probably why he won't return here. |

I've heard Franson was open to a deal like Hoff took last year. 3.5-4 for a 1yr on a contender, then cash in. Honestly that's probably one of his only options at this point. |

I didn't hear TBH. I kept hearing he was sick of moving around and wanted stability. |
