I'm betting thats why it was gone. Thats why I wanted to find a cached version of it, to copy and paste the blog content in to a search engine and see if it came up as another article somewhere. - seedy

Fun story back when the WWF used to do shows at the Niagara Falls convention center my uncle used to take me and my 80 year old Great Grandmother at the time. She used to yell "Piper lift up your skirt"...I miss that woman...she lived to be 103...
Jake the Snake in Williamsville/Amherst at 1811 comics on Saturday, 18 dollar tickets and 40 VIP to hear him talk about coke and hookers. With all these guys dropping like flies, might be the last time to see Jake the mother(frank)ing Snake Roberts.
For those wrestling fans out there...first Dusty now Piper... - Stripes77
I play a wrestling card game on my phone and Piper just came up in a conversation on Reddit 2 days ago (where I pointed out I'd keep the card since I'm an old school fan and don't watch anymore)...
So crazy when the wife just told me a bit ago. I loved Piper
sekera for mcbain and compher
boyes for a second
mac for a 3rd and 4th
paille for sundher
second for moore, when we could have received antropov for that pick since we needed a scoring center
rivet for 2 seconds
first and novotny for zubrus (rental)
7th for hejda
peca for connolly and pyatt
lafontaine for peters - homiedclown
I never said he was the best GM ever. Just that he made some great moves. And none of the ones you listed broke the team. Some head scratchers for sure. Like the Sekera deal, and Zubrus. I even think the Peca deal was at least even if not a slight edge to the Sabres. He wanted more money than we were willing to sign him for so Darcy maximized the return. Peca was a good player, but he was no Lafontaine. And Connolly was a way better player than most give him credit for. Both he and Ennis are right around .6 PPG.

Darcy sucked, period.
He sat.on his hands way, way too much. Yes, when he finally woke up, usually too late, he made.decent.deals...but what.about.the ones he didn't pull the trigger on as.well.
Let's not.rewrite history.

Saying he sucked is rewriting history.
It's really easy to talk about all the deals he didn't make when we have no clue what was on the table.
He made some excellent trades. Some of which made us the best team in hockey for 2 years.

This alleged Seguin one was what did it for me. I was pretty easy about constantly giving him the benefit of the doubt but i almost shed a tear when i heard about that

Frankly, I'd rather have Eichel and Girgensons.
They wanted Vanek and Girgensons. Give us Seguin and we don't get Eichel

He had an eye for soft, second tier talent and for the majority of his time here it didnt work. It was cost effective for sure, but it generally got us just enough wins to never get a look at a difference maker in the draft. Thats part of the reason he never drafted a player in 17 years that finished in the top 10 in scoring. He gave second and third contracts to guys that were part of a tradition of not winning. The team that lost in the cup to dallas was riding on the coattails of hasek, a player that he did not acquire. The team that lost to carolina (that probably sweeps the oilers for a cup)- was part of a two year flag football era post 04 lockout- but the league fixed the glitch after that. To be fair, larry quinn has been mentioned as being at fault for the peca, drury, and briere contract fiascos, and oilers gm kevin lowe is responsible for vanek making 50 million instead of probably half that. Leino was probably more pegula than anyone would like to admit, it was an attempt to fix a problem at first line center by throwing ufa money at a winger. I still hate the hodgson trade, because it represented trading a potential scoring power forward- that we havent had since foligno or gare, for a small center prospect that couldnt skate. I give him credit for keeping the lights on in the building after the cable barons went to jail, but thats about it.
