Big picture they really had no choice. With Giroux and Voracek eating up 16.5 mil on the cap, they need to start looking at a few bargains to have enough cap left over to fill out the roster. If they were going to gamble on any of their own guys, he would be it.

1. revere
2. tulowitzki
3. donaldson
4. bautista
5. encarnación dh
6. martin
7. colabello/smoak 1b
8. pilar
9. whoever is at second base


if navaro is behind the plate, drop him to 7th and adjust 5 and 6 based on first base and dh

I like the way it is right now because it means there's not easy out in any given inning. Smoak, Pilar and Goins would on most occasions be an easy 1, 2, 3. Sneak Revere in there and suddenly you're pitching to back to back lead off guys.

It's moot anyways since as soon as Travis comes back they'll be putting him in the lead off spot.
