Does anyone know, will "1 team packages" be available on Center Ice
for next season?

- StargateSG1

Yes, but it's only 20% less than the full NHL package

Sutter 4.375 x 5 years. Something we could never do. JR looking very good on that deal before a puck is dropped.
- Aussiepenguin

the nucks must really think they have a #2 center here.... not sure why. he had chances in the top 6... with malkin... and never made the most of em. His likely ceiling is a good third liner and he isnt even there yet. sutter 4.4 vs staal at 6. yikes. sutter 4.4 bonino 1.9... also yikes.

It's Nattinan and if he's part of it I really like this trade based on the clips I just watched on YouTube. Let's do it
- Dcoms

He's going on 25 and hasn't done much in 3 years at the AHL level. Not exactly a deal breaker.

So I did miss this discussion then? It just seemed less boring than the one today.

Not sure if it was discussed at all. I'm not on here enough to know.
But Nattinen is just AHL depth. That trade doesn't improve us much

Benning should run a seminar on "how to destroy an NHL franchise."

Read somewhere that said next year Sutter will be the highest payed forward to never have scored 40pts in a season.

I just wanted to chime in that just about any game of just about every sport (including hockey) in just about any part of the world can be easily streamed online for free. Sure, some feeds are a little better than others and sometimes you have to look around for a couple of minutes, but why pay for it?

I agree. If you find a three to four free ones and are willing to cycle through them to find which ones are working the best you can rip games for free without issue.

The plan is to use him there while Horvat progresses. Once Bo does, Sutter will drop back to 3LC. Its not entirely a crazy idea, its just not good cap value. At least he doesn't have an NTC

Sutter has a full NTC effective immediately and becomes a 15 team NTC list in 2019-20 and 2020-21.

Maybe... but I have also said that about snow and he looks like a genious at times. I will withhold judgement going that far... and he is trying to pick up after a guy who did do a lot of damage. This looks pretty bad though

given decent wingers I would put money down on him being a good third line center. and everyone knew he would get a raise... but 4.4? I thought maybe 10.5 for 3.

since bettman only wants 60 point scorers sutter is right where he should be money-wise!

what jklmnopst1 said

and I get their plan... might have made sense for a 2... maybe 3 year deal. but even with the 3.3 cap hit he was over payed as a third line center. 4.4, even with cap going up a little every year... is bad.

Benning might be great at drafting/developing so maybe my opinion is premature. I know Gillis was terrible at that, but Canucks fans better hope Benning is good at drafting because everything else he is doing is terrible. Only decent move he made this offseason with NHL personnel is re-signing Tanev.

seeing what lehner and jones got on the market, getting what he did for lack was trbl. sutter was an over payment... tradewise bonino for sutter straight up might have been fair but to give other assets? Then that contract. only getting a 2nd for a top 4 d man? not looking good

Maybe the change of scenery and all of that stuff helps him, I hope it does. It's unlikely though. Bad contract to give out before anything is proven throughout the year.

Ignoring any of the analytics stuff, not leaving an "out" option would be my biggest issue with it as a Canucks fan. If Sutter came in on his last year and disappointed, maybe they could still move him at the deadline and recoup assets. But now with this contract, they are stuck. If he doesn't fit with the team/coach/system/etc. they have zero recourse.

Yeah, I agree. It'll likely be a tough situation sooner than later.

It's amazing that most fans can see the problems with a player, yet a couple of execs sign them to these types of contracts. I feel smarter, so that's nice.
