Mattress girl. What a (frank)ing dirtbag that girl was. - tomburton99
I'm just thrilled the UVA guys and that Columbia student are suing the poop out of the universities and Rolling Stone. I still don't get why the girls weren't charged though.
Nick Saban said it best: paraphrasing - "don't f**k around with someone who has less to lose than you."
Kane may be completely innocent but if he is still hanging around college kids and average Joe's getting hammered he is asking for trouble.
Former porn star Lisa Ann is offering up free dinner to any championship athlete. Put that new ring to use Kane and look her up. Free meal, you know what she looks like naked, and you won't have any police inquiries as a result.

Yeah but MDZ hits up Lisa Ann. Patty Kane needs to class himself up a bit.
Great news for everyone that dislikes Chicago. - MidnightMarauder
Meh this is a poopty situation. If Kane is innocent, his rep and legacy is still tarnished for life. If he's guilty, a girl got franking raped.
Gonna be interesting to see how the NHL handles this. They threw the book and Richards and Voynov but those guys weren't exactly at the level of superstardom that Kane is. Plus he's the cover of the new NHL.

A crime is a crime regardless of the person that committed it. I am not happy about this, for various and obvious reasons, but if he is guilty his fame shouldn't shelter him nor give him the ability to escape it either.

I agree and if he is found innocent and the girl was looking for a pay day, she should spend the same amount of time in jail that Kane would have if he was found guilty.

I agree, women that lie about being raped are truly lower than scum. But, if this story is true, homeboy should be locked up for at least five-ten years.

Absolutely, guys that abuse women/children are the most disgusting (frank)ing people. But women who lie about it are right there with them.

According to the article, she went to the hospital and a rape kit was conducted, so they'll have some physical evidence one way or the other (although the kit in itself doesn't prove anything definitively). Just have to let this one play out. He is definitely an entitled little punk ass, but is he more than that.

This league can't catch a break. Back to back Stanley Cup winning teams with potential jailbirds on them.

Yeah Pete I saw that. Depending on what they find, I understand that it "could" show force was used, but on the other hand it could just show they had intercourse. Then it just becomes a he said she said. Unfortunately the guy most times wont win that argument, and with his reputation makes it even less likely.

That's what I don't get about the rape kit. Unless there is some alarming obvious mark or something isn't really just a he said she said thing? I never understood it or the process. Just give me a beer and i will go watch a good horror movie.

Major pro athletes get away with a lot more than the average bloke.
Again, if he committed a crime, the law should not go light on him. Treat him as if he were any piece of garbage rapist. Because he can make highlight reel hockey plays doesn't mean he should given any sort of leeway.

I agree MM, trust me, I think athletes, actors, actresses.. etc. anyone who is famous or in the public eye should actually be held to a higher standard.
My whole argument is "if" it turns out it is a he said she said, with no other evidence, doesn't matter if famous or not, a guy most likely won't get the benefit of the doubt.

A rape kit turns up more than obvious alarming marks. I think the particulars of it are beyond all of our pay grades, but let's just say that it can turn up signs of the women's condition (outside of obvious alarming marks), that are consistent with non-consentual sex. It is not a magic bullet, but it is evidence, when couple with other evidence could mean bad news.
It's not always a matter of he said she said. What does the physical evidence show? Did anybody witness them together, either at the bar or after? What was her condition? How was he acting? How quickly did she reach out to anyone? Etc. Etc.
Obviously, in criminal cases, the standard of proof, beyond a reasonable doubt, is hard to meet. In civil cases, the standard of proof, is a preponderance of the evidence, which basically means more likely than not -- it is a 51% standard.

I actually don't agree with that. Pure he said, she said cases, without anything else, rarely lead to conviction.

If he is guilty, tie him up to the goalpost Goldberg style and let Kreider run him as many times as they feel necessary before sending him to jail. - TPC
Honestly if I could make a law, and there is without a doubt you raped a women you should be put to death. No excuse for that, and most likely you will do it again. Same thing for child molesters.
Oh, and anyone who roots for the Devils, or doesn't use a blinker to turn.
