Honestly if I could make a law, and there is without a doubt you raped a women you should be put to death. No excuse for that, and most likely you will do it again. Same thing for child molesters.

Still, how can you put yourself in that situation if you're Kane, in this case?

why cant he though? he has literally every physical tool in the book. all he needs is to put the mental part of the game together. Im not sure if he can, but i would say he is only limited by his own work ethic. |

Don't disagree with that. But, there is a difference between being tremendously stupid and being a rapist. I concede, his remarkable stupidity by continually placing himself in bad situations, no doubt about that.

Here's my best guess:
The guy is 26 years old, in great shape, has championship rings, and makes more money per year than most of us will in a lifetime.
At 26 I was finishing college, broke, and most people con campus didn't even know we had a hockey team. I was also relatively lame and almost always made the smart (albeit less fun) choices in life. That said, if someone had made me a campus celebrity and/or handed me a paycheck for several million dollars per year I would have immediately made some questionable decisions and/or put myself into undesirable situations.
There's typically 3 kinds of athletes in these cases:
1) The ones who were never taught how to be a professional. No one pulled them aside and laid it out for them and they find out the hard way
2) The truly poor characters. The ones who would otherwise be a criminal element if it weren't for their athletic talent. No matter what you do, they cannot overcome their character and will always be their own worst enemy.
3) The ones who were so bound to the training required to achieve their success that they miss out on all of the fun of being a teen/young adult. Once they break out they go wild. Typically you see this with Olympic athletes.
Kane should know better by now. Either he hasn't learned his lesson (#1) or he is one of those that would be destined to a life of disappointment were he not athletically gifted as a hockey player (#2).

This from the CHI thread:
My question is even if not true, does management look at this as immature, putting himself in a potentially compromising position and Kane becomes the latest player moved?
What would NYR have done in a similar situation?
Who would pick him up if he's "forced" to leave? |

Very interesting post.
On the third category, it is funny that you mention Olympic athletes, because by all accounts, the Olympic village usually turns into a scene from Caligula during closing ceremonies, with everybody slupping everyone.

If he is charged, guilty or not, he is untradeable. Indeed, he is probably untradeable while there is any uncertainty about his legal status.
If this thing goes away, and Chicago is just fed up with him and wants to move him, then they will have plenty of suitors.

Noted but it has nothing to do with his status. You're either a jackass or you're not. His supporters and defenders are blinded by the fact he is a brilliant hockey player. Now just because he is under suspicion of a heinous act doesn't make it so. But it's not like he was not at the scene at all and was home eating a home cooked meal and watching Netflix.
Guy is reckless, seemingly always has been, we now all know about it because he is a celebrity. This happens all the time though and he is no better than the average meathead that thinks women are just pieces of meat if these allegations are true.

I agree and if he is found innocent and the girl was looking for a pay day, she should spend the same amount of time in jail that Kane would have if he was found guilty. - mdw7413
That's an important distinction to draw. Some defendants actually perpetrate crimes, but are, nevertheless, found not guilty. In other words, the defendant might have done it, but there's insufficient proof to obtain a conviction. That's why there aren't more perjury prosecutions. |

Buffalo news says 'a local woman.'
If by chance it does turn out to be a guy my guess is that it turns out to be the father of a promiscuous 15-17 year old girl. |

Unless that defense improves I still don't think Pittsburgh is going to better than the Rangers or Islanders. |

No doubt their D remains a huge question mark but they've really added some decent depth that should drive competition in their bottom 6, lots of flexibility too. Dupuis, Bennett, Bonino, Fehr, Cullen. They can still add decent vets on a tryout down the road plus will have a couple young guys in the mix. They've quietly continued to fill out their holes after the Kessel deal.
A guy like Tim Erixon could also thrive in their system and skill upfront with sheltered minutes. |
