If he wanted to stay in Tampa he'd have signed by now. I think he wants to play for the Leafs and he's not afraid of the fish bowl. Doesn't strike me as a Rick Nash wussy type.

Why the f u c k would stamkos ever sign with the leafs, let's face the facts they ain't winning a cup for at least 7 years and playoffs in 4-5 .

The bigger question might be "Do the Leafs have enough to make it happen?"

Of course he does, cause playing for the Cup is highly overrated.

He can do the same in Tampa, without the Toronto taxes.

Adding an established franchise center might speed up that process a bit

have you ever been to toronto.....pretty much every murder that happens in canada is in toronto.

why would he ever leave tampa?

if it's about money......the leafs as a team are richer than the lightning, but individually the leafs would have to pay him 30-40% more than the lightning are offering for him to breakeven

if he wants to win a championship.......that's a no brainer

if he wants to be the star.....he's already that in tampa

why on earth would he want to play for a worse team, for less money, and 1000 times more pressure?

agree with this, the package would be way too much.
He isn't even on the first line now, the kids they have can dictate his movement.
However, I can't see the Lightning losing him for nothing either.

TBH, I dont really think paying 11m on a long term deal or whatever is in the Leafs blue print right now.

but

McDavid in 2021- 2022 is a whole different EK blog

Not on a rebuild, but i keep thinking about Babcock, and Uncle Lou, (he's what, 78?), sitting through a 4/5 year plan?
