Hey EK, if you want more hits, write a blog on how good the Jays are.
No one cares about the Leafs right now.

Yes...and Steve going to FA...It's all but done ...Why would a team trade for him knowing he's a rental until July 1 when he signs with the Leafs...

OMG

- Fruitcakenipple

It depends where Tampa is in the standings...

And I'm assuming teams would still trade for him as a rental if they have a legit shot at winning the cup.

Either way there is to many factors and its all moot if stamkos resigns

There are actually some idiot hockey players who chose to play for the lowly Islanders for all the bad years. Don't you just worry, they will screw it up real bad in a couple of years and will be the dregs of the NHL again.

Leafs should just wait and sign him as UFA

Stamkos won't make it to free agency unsigned. He either signs or gets traded.

Do you check or proofread?

The majority of writers on Hockeybuzz don't proofread. It drives me nuts. I've even offered to proofread the blog (for free) before it is posted, just so I don't choke on the spelling and grammatical errors.

If, and I highly doubt it, then Lightning actually want to trade Stamkos to the Leafs, Toronto will potentially destroy what they have been building the last couple of years in exchange for a run at the Cup in the immediate future.

Any trade would be hypothetical, so I will give it my best.

============
To the Leafs:
============
S. Stamkos
A. Sustrj
B. Point
2016 3rd Round Pick

===============
To the Lightning:
===============
T. Bozak
M. Reilly
S. Percy
M. Marner
2016 1st Round Pick
2017 1st Round Pick

Basically, the trade-offs are Stamkos for Bozak, Marner, & two 1st Round Picks; and Sustrj & Point for Reilly, Percy, & a 2016 3rd Round Pick. I'm not sure this trade makes complete sense, but it is a potentially equal in terms of the rrade-offs. The biggest obstacles are Tampa Bay losing their best player and Toronto sacrificing their future. Keep in mind that the loss of two first round picks (2016 & 2017) is not horrible for Toronto, considering they currently have 11 picks in 2016 (2-1st's, 2nd, 2-3rd's, 4th, 2-5th's, 2-6th's, 7th) and 6 in 2017 (all but the 3rd round pick). [Note: Four of Toronto's picks in 2016 & 2017 are conditional and could change.]

Any thoughts on this purely hypothetical trade which I believe will never happen?

[quote=isitin]A couple hundred murders??. Are you on crack?

Toronto murder rate
2010 63
2011 51
2012 56
2013 57
2014 57
2015 32 so far this YEAR

VERY similar to Kessel s point production. Coincidence ??

Toronto would never give up Marner or Reilly on Any trade.. Or Nylander for that matter. Toronto will sense tampas weakness and if anything will give them a low offer, and Tampa will have no choice because he wants to be a leaf.

I think it's more along the lines of something like this

Tor-JVR,Percy,leipsic,Pittsburg 2016 1st

TB- Stamkos

Stamkos doesn't make sense to be on the leafs. They are 5 years off (as are Canucks)...he's in his prime, why waste those years missing the playoffs and be on the other side of 30 when they finally get a good team.

Only thing which made sense in this post.

Only way Stamkos comes to Leafs is that he just waits out the season (most certainly with Tampa) and then signs 1st of July with Leafs as an UFA.
