I believe that Canada's Fed & Provincial Tax is around 49.5%

Most of the people in Canada are in Toronto too... it's the whole "cities with more churches statistically also have more bars" situation.

Also, professional athletes, especially of Stamkos' caliber, don't only make their money from their salaries. The "star money" would be a lot larger in Toronto.

All that being said, I'd rather pass on him coming to TO.

It would be a huge mistake by the Leafs. Stamkos is less than he was. I know it is tempting to go after a guy that is a premier scorer....but the Leafs are finally doing it the right way. This is not the time for short cuts.

If the leafs go after Stamkos it will be as a free agent. The assets it would cost to get him would cripple the rebuild, why not just wait till he's free agent and offer him toews and kane money.

if stamkos tells us that hes comin 100 percent then that's the way to do it..............but if he isnt signing with tampa they will trade him before his contraact expires...........if it gets around the league that he won't sign a new contract cuz he wants to sign in toronto then his value will go through the floor, and tampa wont get much for him anyway.............in that case we can afford to bring him here now..........if he just doesnt want to be in tampa n isnt committed to toronto then we will have to pay him crazy money, and also make a huge trade to get him.....all depends on his intentions
