Gauthier, Christopher Clapperton and Michael Joly played junior together last season with the QMJHL’s Rimouski Oceanic. All three will be part of Toronto’s organization in some fashion come September.
Gauthier is entering the first year of an NHL entry-level deal after being selected 21st overall by Toronto in 2013. Clapperton, who was originally drafted by Florida 122nd overall as a 19-year-old the same year, joined the organization this summer by agreeing to an AHL contract with the Marlies. Joly, who was undrafted and went to Sabres camp in 2014 on a try-out, has been invited as a free agent to the upcoming rookie tournament. |

They went from #17 to #2 in a year..I dont know.... - Fruitcakenipple
Nylander had a big year. Brown had a big year. Johnson had a big year.
Traded for Leipisic, Kapanen,Harrington.
Added Marner, Dermott,Bracco. couple 3rd rd prospects.
Easily top 10, I'd put em closer to 5. Jets,Yotes,Isles,Leafs,Oilers (who will drop way down when mcdavid loses eligibility) would be my top 5 in no particular order |

Leafs have better prospects than (with Edmonton #1), Buffalo, Arizona, Winnpeg and Florida..
Not sure about that...
maybe top 10.. - Fruitcakenipple
Florida?
Crouse,Matheson,Mccollen, Grimaldi, Howden,Hawerlyck...leafs easily top that |

you've got to take those rankings with a grain of salt. many teams who were rated with top 5 prospect pools in these rankings... continued to suck for many years. but i don't think there's a team that has beefed up its pool more than the Leafs in the last 14 months. they were barren going into the 2014 offseason.

yeah don't know if I believe they have the 2nd best prospect pool because I still don't see a bona fide franchise type player there; *maybe* a couple first line guys.
I do think they have the "most improved" prospect pool. |

3) Flyers captain Claude Giroux was one of the first veteran players to come to Voorhees this summer to work out in preparation for training camp. While in town last week, he did an interview for the Flyers official website. As with linemate Jakub Voracek, Giroux reports that new Flyers head coach Dave Hakstol flew to meet him in person this summer. Hakstol met with Giroux in Ottawa. The two men spent several hours together, getting to know one another ... - Meltzer
I wonder if Hakstol dressed up as an Ottawa cop

Aside from Buffalo and Edmonton, what other team has a franchise prospect right now?
Saying that, how are Leafs ahead of the Sabres? |

Sabres traded a lot of their 3-10 range prospects recently. Only explanation. |

Honestly, espn has no clue what they are talking about. So it's safe to assume the laughs aren't anywhere near #2.
Maybe 6th?
Also.

What a team. Finally a team that can represent Toronto. - Fakepartofme
Id say 4th at worste right now honestly. Arizona is probably ahead of us.
Hell if nurse, McDavid, draisaitll, Eichel and Reinhart all make the NHL this year, which they probably will, Oilers and Sabres both drop out of the top 5 if not top 10 all together. |
