I don't think it's a terrible idea letting gauthier start with the solar bears. Yea, we know the echl is a bad league, but they want him to develop the offensive side of his game. Putting him on the Marlies where he will be at best their #2C won't help him anymore than when he was in the Q. He starts with the solar bears and is relied on heavily to produce. He gets ample ice time 5 on 5 and on the pp. One of Schenn's biggest issue was that we didn't send him back to develop his offensive game and foot speed. This gives him the time to develop in a less pressure atmosphere and continue developing his skills and foot speed. Don't be surprised if once he starts lighting it up he gets called up to the Marlies as well.

This may be the year (next draft) the 14th place team wins the lottery.

Nope Biggs is long gone and he's not our issue anymore after being traded in the kessel deal. It's not like the leafs are only sending gauthier there if he does go there. It's a model they want to start employing in general. He will still be playing with decent players, not beer league guys who still think they can make the big leagues.
