I really don't know what he sees about him. Eller is a perfect example to take what he says with caution. - LeafMan
eh, as is the case with most scouting reports...
Some players are sure shots, but very few. |

Seeing the blue jays become popular is a good reminder of how good fans can be in this city, with a winning team. Even if they aren't playing a real sport. |

nah.
it will be a regular buy out or they'll settle on amount $$ and be done with it. - zazzle
that would be CBA circumvention.
LA Kings normally don't have an option for a regular buyout after hearing, and there is nothing about a 'settlement' in CBA.
It's either Richards back on their roster, or NHL agreeing with the termination of contract.
Only if Richards was already various times in a NHL/NHLPA substance abuse program while on LA Kings, with LA kings supporting him in those past periods, they might have a chance to win the hearing. If not, can't see them win the case.
Drug dependence / abuse by definition is an illness, so I guess that would be the way to go for them and have him on LTIR. They have to pay him full contract value, but have 0 caphit on the contract then. (and they could even trade Richards who could then be 'declared' healthy again by another team if they feel the urge to do so).
It's probably the best solution for all involved (Richards, LA Kings, NHL and NHLPA) - should probably write Gary and Donald a quick email |

Why wouldn't they have the option of buying him out? (Not familiar with the CBA) |

I think the NHL already agreed to the buyout.
The NHLPA's greivance might not affect that... Just force LA to compensate him.

There's generally only one buyout period at the end of the season, and another based on arbitration results. |

Does anyone else look at the Bruins roster and think they will be any good or will compete, their system has to be perfect for them to have any chance. - LeafMan
They have Rask, Bergeron, a healthy Krejci and hopefully Chara and Seidenberg healthy. So still better than us |

and some solid wingers in Pasternak, Erickson, Marchand and even Belesky and Hayes.
Some other solid D also.
If anything they will be a good defensive team, that's hard to score against. Not sure they have the firepower to make the playoffs....but they'll be close. |
